I saw this this morning outside work but didn't have an opportunity to snap any other pics as there were a dozen plus other cars to ogle... anyway it has Ferrari and Pininfarina badges.. and I have no idea what it is. The scalloped almost corvette-like treatment of the fenders, and what looked like a hatchback arrangement that almost appeared to be tail fins...

This is the well known Ferrari 375 MM PF Berlinetta with S/N 0456AM, also known as the "Bergman Ferrari".

Roberto Rossellini had commissioned a special body to Pininfarina for his wife Ingrid Bergman. but she never took delivery.

Bruno, this is an odd combination of disinformation on this car that has somehow made its way into several different sources and continues to be passed along.

In truth, the car was designed by Pinin Farina but not commissioned by Rossellini. Rossellini saw the car for the first time when it was shown at the Paris Salon in 1956. He purchased the car at that time or very soon after. Rossellini was, of course, married to Ingrid Bergman at the time. He took delivery and drove the car for several years, even using it to taxi his children to school.

I never heard this version, but if you say, I will believe you. I'll see if I find something about it.

    scuse my bad Inglish

Je n'ai jamais entendu cette version, mais si tu le dis, je veux bien te croire. Je vais voir si je trouve quelque chose à ce sujet.

    Paris 1954 of course

It is also the car that Ferrari used as the inspiration for the 612.

And the colour found its way into modern cars as Grigio Ingrid. A lovely soft gold in some lights, almost silver in others.

Find a 2-part article by Pete Vack in Forza Magazine on Rossellini's Ferraris (issues 20 & 21, February & April, 2000). Pete gathered his information from the Rossellini family, including actress Isabella Rossellini (daughter of Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman). He also includes at least one photo of Rossellini with 0456 AM.

In the articles, Vack quotes family members who state that the car was never intended to be a gift for Bergman. While I can't find a reprint of those articles online, here is a short blurb on this subject by the same author:

I don't know... If you've ever seen the video of her waiting at Rome for him during the MM, (53, I think) she seems to be enjoying herself. If she was so against cars, and racing, I would not think she would have spent the day at the races.

Er, how? The 612 is awful - another post-1975 margerine tub on wheels.
