I know this has been discussed a few times in previous threads, but I'm so impressed with this solution I felt it worth announcing again. Kevin from Audio Illustions installed an invisible switch under the steering column that manual controls the opening and closing of the bypass valves. He had never done one before, but found it to be quite straight forward. We did not use any kit from a manufacturer. For a total of $850, it provides the perfect solution for those that want he car to scream at the touch of the button regardless of the setting selected in the Manettino control. In my opinion, this solution provides that best of both worlds. Quiet for those longer freeway drives where I'd like to use the bluetooth telephone or listen to some tunes, and screaming loud for most of the other driving I do.

As so many of you have said, this totally transforms the car. It just can't get any better!!! And Kevin continues to blow me away with his ingenious solutions and quality of work!!!

Thanks man, you are the BEST!!!!

How is it received with FNA and does it impact on the car's warranty, no issues here with the modification?

As you say it's a great solution, well done to Kevin!

How does it compare to just driving in race mode?

This is indeed the best, cheapest option available. I had it on my F430 and have it on my current 599 HGTE and my 599 GTO. On the GTO it's totally crazy with the valves in open mode ;)

    Enjoy the "new" toy.

You don't deal with the valves open and closing. When I flip the switch, the car sound incredible all the time at all rpm ranges. The gurgling when backing off the throttle just blows my mind. And yet when I close the switch and leave it in sport mode, it's quiet and peaceful. Just love it!!!

    That does sound perfect actually!

Now I just need to figure out how to get it done on my car.

Those valve bypasses, either hard wired or the ~$600 Capristo remote system, are a great idea. The one thing you miss with the valves is the great popping and snapping on the over-run, like Arnie said. As soon as you lift the throttle, the valves close, killing all that beautiful music.

The Capristo remote solenoid system is dead easy to install, too. Pull the solenoid from its connector, plug in the Capristo remote, plug the solenoid into the connector on the remote unit, attach a ground wire, and you are done.

Where can I get this done in the Tampa bay area? I'm reading that it opens up the middle exhaust flap so its loud all the time!

This is the only and best mod on my 458. It makes cruising fun even at low speed.

My installation placed the toggle switch in the front recessed portion of the center coounsel next to my radar control switch. The best part of the "control" is not having to put up with the constant valves open/close only to close/open again, but enjoy the steady "flow" of open valves. Best

Please post pictures of the install. My dealer is quoting $1400 because the rear bumper has to be removed to install the valve motor. Is this the same work you had done?
