I like the CHP, they are hard working and seem to be trying to help everyone. They also seem fair in who they ticket, I have had my fair share.

Is joining 11-99 really a help?

Waste of $$ IMO not unless you want to make a hefty donation. It's $1,800! If you drive with caution, use a radar detector for when they're sneaking around, and don't drink and drive, I think you're better off. Dropping $1,800 is no guarantee that you'd be off the hook, so why not just be smart?

My friend has had the 11-99 for years and has never had a ticket on the freeway since......i have witnessed different times in the 360 where he was doing high speeds and got out of it without a question asked!..... besides the car is a ferrari CHP love to see when they are getting donations for thier families in need...... seems like a safe bet considering the $1800 is for a lifetime mebership.... u tell me

    Put it this way......

A friend of mine (member) was driving my 355 in the residential section of Rodeo Dr. He did a long burn out from a stop sign and got pulled over for going over 60. The cop was pissed when my buddy pulled out the badge.

Even though BH cops are pretty tough on speeders, he only cited my friend for having no front plate!

Us nor cal'ers were talking about this back in April.

I am going on a CHP Ride-a-long on the 30th of this month. I will ask the officers I talk to what their thoughts are.

BTW--if you are drving drunk, A-your an idiot, B-11-99 will not help you out at all. They have no tollerance for that stuff.

I was caught doing 125 in rain and fog of Santa Barbara. I thought that I was doomed (being both drunk and high on pot) at the time. But, what the hay, the 11-99 badge worked!! :)

I think its better to have the Badge + the frame so they know not to call the plate in.

    What do you guys think?

They couldn't do enough to help me when I had mechanical problems in Monterey. Talk about"service".
Don't forget, it is a donation to a good cause. Some people need to loosen up and help a little more.

Helped several of my friends get out of tickets. In one instance, the CHP just rolled up next to my friend, shook his head, and drove off. Didn't even pull him over. I have the license plate frames on my cars but don't have the badge, didn't donate....yet.

Oh, and there's a reason why most expensive sports cars in L.A. have these frames.

Anyone know what and how to get the ones that say KMA-527 or KMA-627? Someone told me that these are even better than the 11-99's.

The 11-99 is great and all. I admit I got it to help me out of tickets, and it works! But recently I talked to the CPA of 11-99 Foundation. He said 99.9% of that money DOES go to the families of officers who had been killed in the line of duty. That other .1% pays for the receptionist. So it is for a good cause. Since then, I have donated money to them. Not alot of money but some! So look at it both ways. I see it as a Win Win situation.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in the whole tithing thing and give to several charities. This does seem like a worthwhile cause, especially the more I learn about it. If the true intent is giving then great. I'd have a hard time signing up with my primary purpose being getting out of tickets.

Armen addressed the most important issue in my book! 99.9% goes to the families! My previous charities were the Red-Cross & Goodwill but the CEO of the San Diego Red-Cross chapter makes $307K a year (revealed during a fraud scandal) and I'm sorry but I have a problem with that. I could not justify the cost so I started using Goodwill exclusively until the 13yr President was indicted for stealing $11M. Needless to say, I've donated two vehicles to needy people written up in the local paper this year, now that I can justify!

In NY we had a PBA card/badge similar to the 11-99 foundation and it worked very well. So I'll take my chances with a good cause and pay the piper if it fails... but at least I' know where my money is going, win or loose.!

    Patrick

Could someone post that 11-99 application link or fax me a copy please. Thanks
