I saw this car at a show a few years ago. It's a very rare car and I'm glad I had the opportunity to see it.

The early picture of the Monza was taken 16 July 1966, shortly after completion and while carrying the MO-103 trade plates of Neri and Bonacini. It is part of a photoshoot by Franco Zagari taken in the gardens around the Ducal Palace of Modena, used as the Italian Military Academy.

All the images are available from Matt Spitzley at the Spitzley-Zagari Collection, (email [email protected]).

The owner is a delightful guy, met him in London last year.

A very cool car with a great (very interesting) history.

Hi Fred, it was great meeting you and the help of yourself and VLG members in identifying aspects of the Monza chassis is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any information about the customer who commissioned the Monza ?

When interviewed for the Octane article in 2005, Giorgio Neri confirmed that it was commissioned by an American who wanted to go racing at Le Mans but left it with Lamborghini when there were homologation problems.

It seems that the Monza was the first one-off Lamborghini to be commissioned by a customer. Who is likely to have had enough influence (or dollars) to initiate such a project ?

The Monza is currently on display at the exhibition of Lamborghini Design Studies which opened yesterday at the Audi Museum in Ingolstadt, comprising many interesting prototypes and design models.

Included are P132 Diablo prototype, Diablo Roadster prototype, P147 Acosta, P147 Canto, Cala, Concept S, etc.

What a collection of rare Lamborghinis. Interesting detailing on the yellow Countach which appears to be a cross between the prototype and an LP400.
