compliance with ADR's is the biggest hurdle, as it would be the first one then expect a hefty price and wait

    Yes and no

If you import via the private import scheme(owning the car 12mths O/S then move back to Australia) then you can get it registered here(as long as it was registered in the UK and in use).

The regular way of importing the car then you have to go thru all the usual BS ADR/Compliance as goober mentions.

That's one hell of a toy.

You must have elephant balls to risk it.

Not sure if you would be able to register it.
Will it meet ADR? Can it be made to meet ADR?
Emissions tests. Intrusion beams...and the list goes on and on and on.....

I reckon landed cost without ADR would be around $1.26 Mil landed and tax paid.

Apart from the ADR issues it doesn't make economical sense.
BTW they are not fun to drive on road at our speed limits.

thanks for the input from everyone on the finer details of importing such a beast into the country. Just wanted to put this into a hypothetical context to see if it could be done and as I have out that- a) it can be done; and b)it's not worth the extra $$$ if it cannot be used as a daily driver here.

    For what it's worth, I think a scuderia or a 458 shall suffice ;)

    thanks f-chat members!

you can get club plates for a left hand drive car after 25 years in Victoria. Full rego is 30 years and cars like F40, F50 and enzo would be a real problem for the full 30 year rego. I don't think ANYONE would do it.
I'm going to put my F40 on club plates when it's 25 years old. It's a 1990 car, so technically speaking I can't do it until 2015.

So going down to Coles to buy a newspaper in the F40 would be, theoretically out of the question- that is- until 2020 ;)

would be quite the sight though lol!

I thought there were certain restrictions in place to prevent owners from using these machines to much?
