I'm a bit confused as I've seen it both ways. Where they black or body colored from the factory? Mine are body color.

All the ones I can recall seeing were black. Mine are black (of course my car is Metallic Black). Not sure where there may be another distinction, but I seem to remember the red cars and yellows I have seen being black as well.

I think Euro's came with body color. I kind of like the black as it matches the louvers on the rear deck lid.

All the US cars came with black louvers,

Euro cars it was an option for painted louvers and air foil

LOL so it could be either way....mine are painted, however I'm partial to the contrast of the black.

I don't know for sure. My car is a Euro with flat black louvers - same as rear deck. However the car was repainted in 2001 prior to my ownership. Not sure if the louvers were.

There were special order options from the factory. If I were a betting man I would say that it's possible that some Euro cars that left the factory with painted louvers to meet the owner's needs. Nothing was 100% in the 80s.

My '82 Euro QV has black fender & bonnet louvers. The bonnet louver is clearly black anodized, has never been painted. The fender louvers are satin black like the boot lid louvers, no obvious signs of repainting.

I was under the impression that the carb cars (76-79) were body color and the FI cars went with black anodize.

I think that IS the case, certainly in the US...

But there's been a lot of mods by owners since then, this is the first I have heard mention of a 'Factory Option' to choose...

I only say that because I have a 1977 that SOLD in Summer 1980 and they had to add the black grills and rear wing to do the deal. To match the new cars on the floor around it.

A simple search for 'louvers body' will uncover this bi-yearly question so I'm surprised that so many owners still don't know.

308 cars are Body Colored with the EXCEPTION of US QV cars which are black anodized.

A Previous thread and one of many

Paul, while that's the common understanding perpetuated by Keith Blumel's book, there are known exceptions such as my Euro QV with black anodized louvers and there's no reason to believe the parts were ever replaced.

Intentionally done in accordance with Enzo's desire never to produce two cars alike. One starts with an engine and running gear... everything else is an selectable option.

That's the cleanest look, IMO.....I'll be changing #20405 back to that as I refinish the car....

Personally I like hood louvers body color. Sort of depends on what you want to emphasize. Stealthy lines or techno angles of the time. Authentic factory is such a statement too. I like to imagine I could have ordered mine to my specs.
