Cool, any tips? I have always sent mine to Palo Alto Speedometer (308 and 328)...I was tempted to open my 328 one, but not damaging the bezel had me scared, so off it went to PAS. The tach on the 328 went to PAS too, a common issue on the 3.2L cars. Thankfully the 355 clock seems more reliable...knock wood.
There really isn't much to do on these clocks as Veglia sealed the clock with the bezel, needed is a tool which opens the bezel without damage. There is not much to do on the quartz clocks (those with the knob at the 6 o'clock), they only need the nylon gears serviced, the mechanical clocks those with the knob at the 12 o'clock are the better clocks even if not as accurate as the quartz clocks (but really are we timing the launch of the space shuttle using our Veglia clocks?), all they really need is tuning the pivot/oiling the 'all metal' gears and insuring good electrical connection to the moving 'electrical' components... the rest is replacing the crystal... I do this for 1/5-1/10 the cost of PAS or others... see below: Nick

I do have some, but you'd like to have the proper clock for the car's year. Older cars did not have quartz clocks, they had mechanical clocks driven by a coil/magnet and they much more reliable. Do you have the clock on the car now inoperative? Are you able to remove it and test the electricals to see if it the problem? Either way it can be repaired. Nick
Hi Nick, 1979 Myr 308 GTS Veglia Tacho n/w originally fitted with the Mag Marelli BZR 201 twin Coils with GM ign ampilfiers. Can you help with the signal to the tacho from the Elec/Ign ? Do you know what type of signal drives the Tacho on the Brown/Black wire ? The Tacho gives an initial flick of the needle with ign on the no movement at all on eng/run ! I have fitted a Programmable Digital Ignition system please see scan wiring diagram. I found a possible alternative circuit (the pdf BSMpdi Ferrari Dino)...do you think its worth a try ? Nick: I don't suppose that anything can be done with the LED clock in my 83 Mondial? I set it up, then when I turn the ign. off, come back in a day or so, turn on the ign. and it starts blinking again.
Derrick, I'm not familiar with this type of tachometer and would not attempt to try to diagnose this type setup, sounds like the initial flick of the needle is power up but is losing the signal from the relay... check the relay to see if it's operative. I'm trying to follow the diagrams posted... seems straight forward... did it ever work with the programmable unit when installed? Nick
I'm sure it is removable, you would have to remove the dash incorporating the pod/instruments to get to it... sadly the whole unit would have come off. Nick
Sounds like it needs a seperate power source from the ignition, try to find a constant 12V supply that is on without the ignition and use that as the power to the LED clock, once on this power it will run 24/7. NicK
Hi Nick,, Yes worked briefly then stopped working. The tacho receives its pulse signal from the Tacho driver unit as shown in the first schematic ....i m am trying to find exactly what signal is required by the tacho and then i can eliminate the tacho driver if it matches the spec......when you say check the relay are you refering to the second pdf doc ? thanks for any advice derrick
I just got my clock back from Nick, and he did a great repair job. My clock wasn't actually broken -- it still worked but I was missing the adjustment knob and shaft. I had taken off the trim ring and was going to try and rig something up to work, but then saw Nick's post about his repair service. He's not kidding about price -- I don't know if he charges a fixed rate or sliding scale, but I can tell you my repair cost was ridiculously low. I had a speedo repaired at PAS a few years back and it cost me over 10x more than what Nick charged. Yes, a speedo is more work than a simple clock but still, 10x is quite a bit. He replaced the parts I was missing, polished up the lens and trim ring and reassembled the clock. I just installed it and it makes my other dull instruments look pale. The clock in my 328 works but does not keep time. you can set it, but by the end of the day it will have lost several hours? What causes that, and how do you remove the clock from the dash? does it come out the back or front?
There are two thumb screws that hold the clock against a bracket/dash, you must get behind the dash or remove the dash to get to the screws. Regarding not keeping time, it's either dirty or needs to be adjusted, if you send me the clock it will be cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and new crystal installed. Check the 308/328 thread for a happy clock owner. Nick
Hi Radiopilot, my question may be weird, but I've a Fiat 127 1984 car which has a veglia clock with Seven segment display. I opened it to repair it, but found a chip inside. I tried to search for its datasheet but with no result as the manufacturer of the chip is no longer exists. So do you have any idea how would I fix it? I have a 70 124 spider I'm rebuilding...........How much to service my veglia/borletti clock? It has the nob at 12 o'clock but of course you know that owning Fiat yourself. I'm a street rodder and the car is retro so I'm not convinced in putting in the old clock but I do like the fact that veglia/borletti is not your average Timex........
