www.speedventures.com is hosting an Autocross at the California Speedway in Fontana on the weekend of November 21-22. A number of us will be there on Sunday, November 22. Look for the guys under the red Easy-Up.

Autocross is a Beginner Friendly entre to motorsports, all you need is a car that is not leaking too many fluids and a helmet (loaner helmets are available). $80 entrance cost gets you all the track time you can handle.

    Scott,

I promoted this event to about 8 local ferrari friends to run the auto-x and have a bar be que and BS session and hang out. Response was mixed perhaps because I did it too early. I'll be there running the vette challenge on saturday on the roval with SV. If a bunch of guys come out to run their ferraris on the auto-x I'll bring my maranello on sunday. Maybe this thread will get ferrari drivers excited.

For those who do not know Auto-x is running cones in a parking lot and there is no damage 99% of the time because there is nothing to hit. So you guys with really nice ferraris can bring them out to play and the parking lot is huge so you will not get any door dings either.

All you need is a helmet. These guys have the cheapest helmets around. http://www.racerwholesale.com/index.php?cPath=35_145

So lets hope this thread takes off.

For now Scott you can count me in.

Scott maybe a crosspost to "tracking and driver ed" forum would be good?

Scott, Carl, count me in 95%, I might be on the roval as well. Been a while since Iv'e been to the track.

To others on the fence, Speedventures runs a great autocross at Fontana. Perfect venue for newbies, plus they do all the course work (cones etc) so you just get to drive and hang out. Quite a bit of fun. I have done this event before, you can even run autoX between your run group track sessions if you sign up for both (discount applies).

AutoX + Ferrar-B-Q sounds really fun. Maybe I'll bring mine (couldn't resist)

Just a little too far away from me to make it attractive. I was ok with going to Irwindale when BMWCCA used to do them there. That was about a 1hr drive, which is close to my max.

Oh...if anyone needs minor car prep help let me know. It is really easy to pass self tech and make your car ready to run.

OK, I'm in for the Autocross at least, for sure. I'm trailering in, will have an easy-up as well.
I'll bring chips and salsa, and ceviche (from a local famous place, really tasty !), cooler full of sodas. I'll have a 2'x4' folding table along.

    Looks like a party !

Actually SpeedVentures usually provides pizza and sodas at thier track events, but a BBQ sounds like more fun!

Excellent! I have a blue easyup. Lets put the 3 easy ups in a row and throw all the chairs we can in there and have a party.

SV stopped the pizza due to the recession.

Carl, spoke to the wife, I'm not going to try to make it - I am definitely going to come. Bringing my son, so make sure to bring that extra helmet. Has the rules changed for helmets? My helmet is SAE2000.

Also, let me know what to bring food/drink wise, I'm definitely kicking in. This is going to be awesome.
