Amongst the mods we discussed where to draw the line between spoilers for the raceweekend and expressing the sympathy for our injured hero. By now probably everybody knows what happened in Budapest and so we decided to open this thread dedicated just to Felipe. Like everybody else my wishes and prayers go out to Massa and his family and I hope he is on his way to a full recovery. PS: Please don't start any other Massa threads, use this one instead.
From http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2009/07/the-latest-from-the-track-on-massa/ Felipe Massa has been operated on this evening and is now in an induced coma in the AEK Hospital in Budapest. An inaccurate report from AP this evening suggested that his condition was life threatening but this is not the case. The operation was successful and he is likely to be woken tomorrow. Medical estimates of how long he will be out of action vary from two months, to longer. It has been suggested by one doctor here that he may miss the rest of the season. More will be known when the medically induced coma ends and the medics can assess the amount of bruising to the front of the brain.
Terrifying freak accident. All the best to Phil and family, here's hoping for his quick return behind the wheel.
Terrible for him to miss the rest of the season like this. However, I'm happy that it looks like he'll be fine.
I'm sure he is in great hands, technology has moved on considerably with this sort of injury, but heres hoping he will get well soon and be back in a car ASAP. Go Massa!.
Get well soon Felipe. This season's a bust. Here's to next spring! (Please don't flame me. humour is the best medicine right???)
Hey Massa, this is not what they meant by "knock out qualifying"! Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery!
Get well and don't rush it back. With the way this season has been going there is no need to chance it. Mark PS: Can we save this thread some how so there is a record of Andreas calling Massa his hero??
Hopefully it ends up like Hakkinnen's crash (1995?). Looked bad at first but he obviously came back 100% and took a couple of WDC to boot!
