As some of you know we went for a 4-day trip to Maranello with the 599 last week. We have had the car for roughly 20 days and already drove it for +/- 2500 miles (1500 in this trip alone). What an experience!! We did all the usual things one would do there. We visited the Galleria Ferrari for the 20th time, ate at Montana (and met the famous Rosella ), took pics in front of the factory etc... We also met the Zanasis (of the Zanasi body shop which mainly works for Ferrari). They were extremely nice and we were taken for a tour around their facilities. We also became members of the Ferrari Club of Modena and therefore we'll certainly be in the area frequently for meetings. We'll be in Modena at the end of the month to have the car serviced at the local dealership...hopefully we'll also manage to get a factory tour arranged. In this trip I obviously managed to drive the car for some extended periods of time and I can only confirm my initial impressions which I posted in the other thread. The car is extremely comfortable and it EATS 500km stints for breakfast. Driving 100 kilometers on the 599 feels like 10 would in another car. Time simply flies when behind the 599's wheel. Whether you're "playing" or calmly cruising along the 599 never disappoints. We haven't closed the exhaust valves once in the trip (we have a switch that can open the valves)...and the car simply sounds fantastic. Tunnels are an epic experience with the 599. At speed, the 599 feels absolutely planted and you can truly feel the aerodynamics "nailing" the car to the ground as the speed increases. It's really quite an experience! I still can't get used to the way that the engine pulls. I remember someone writing here on Fchat (Sfumato maybe?) that it's a good thing the car has the LEDs on the steering wheel, as the car is too fast to look down at the rev-counter. Well, I can't even look at the damn LEDs ....ok...enough talking for now. Here is the first set of pics taken in front of the factory. Fun trip. That was my comment about LED's Most people really have no idea what it'll do. Glad you're enjoying it the way it was intended. Enjoy your posts.
Were you there on a weekend? Last summer when I was there during the week, the road in front of the factory (via Abetone?) was way to busy to park in front of the gates like that.
I took the pics in front of the factory on Sunday. The road was quite busy, but I don't think that the way the car was parked bothered anyone as the factory was closed?
In front of the entrance to the wind-tunnel area of the factory and at the Galleria Ferrari. P.S. Notice where the car was parked in the last pic. As far right as possible giving all the space in the world for other to park and open their doors in all comfort. Guess what? We managed to pick-up a door ding there I'm honestly loosing faith in humanity. It's now at the body-shop to have the ding removed as well as a couple of stone chips...oh well... Travelling to the holyland by Ferrari is simply perfect! Been there once but by a rental car.... Life is unfair LOL
I just re-read your post. I thought you said that you went there during the weekend...sorry I'm tired and I can't read
Very nice to see your visit to Maranello pictured here! What sort of temperatures there during the day in July this year? CH
We went to the Modena dealership to have a couple of issues checked and book a service for the end of the month. They were preparing some of the cars which were in the RM Auction. Some amazing machines in there. Unfortunately my camera's battery went dead before I could take more detailed pictures. I also didn't take pictures during the Zanasi tour for the same reason Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Carlo- It looks to me like you and your father are not trying hard enough to have a good time with your 599. Personally trying to think of some things for you to do that would be more fun, but am having a hard time doing it. Ask your father if he will adopt me. Taz Terry Phillips
