I am thinking of spending a nice long weekend in Miami in August and would like to rent a Yatch or a big boat w/ live-in quarter for a couple of days (just for two of us). Can someone provide some info and price?

I have, twice, and I do not recomend it. Lot of money... not really that much fun. Better would be a hotel that has a boat that they will take you on.

Also, no real world class yatch owner will EVER let you and the ms. go out on your own unless you have your Capt. License from the USCG; and likely not even then.

    Thanks, John.
That makes sense. How about say 1/2 day rental with a Capt. (I'd never garner enough courage to take it on my own....lol)? Any idea on what that would cost?

I rented a cigarette boat (scarab, whatever), 600 hp., for 1/2 day for $400 with a captain. I just wanted to go fast for a while and I did.

Some of the people on this website have some pretty big boats -- they can probably tell you what to expect.

I would contact the hotel and ask them. I am sure they get that alot.

Sadly no, I do not so much down there. But I have been to Key West a few times!!!

hmmm... I could tell you if I'd rented a Yatch, and how much it was if you could please just provide an accurate description of a "Yatch".

Are you sure you aren't talking about a sWatch? Or a Match? Or a Patch?

Porsche Design makes watches, maybe Yugo does too and that is what a "Yatch" is. Please tell me as I am very interested!

(Just playing w/ you Tom) ;)

    Tom,

It's a good suggestion to contact the hotel, but I will caution you that normally if you ask the hotel to book it (they will want to) my experience is they will charge a lot more then if you take care of it yourself. The doc gave you one link...

    Here is another

    Good luck

Nicholas, LOL..... I am w/ you, bro.

Dude, I have no clue about these Yatch thang for they are waaaaay out of my league. Frankly, I couldn't distinguish the difference b/w a 45 ft sting ray from a 10 ft bass fishing boat....even if my life depends on it.

Base on all the feedbacks, I will likely end up renting a "sea doo" instead....LOL.

Grab a copy of either "Yachting" or "Motorboating and Sailing" magazine on any news stand. The back 1/3 of these are always loaded with ads for charters.

    Have fun!

    Tom,

These guys have a great reputation.........http://www.miamiboat.com They are super nice and will handle any questions you have.

Consider doing a run over to bimini for the night and back the next day. about 2.5 hr trip from FL, a couple of really cool laid back bars, and lots of desolate beaches to roam.

ps. I'll run you over if you supply rent the boat, (really cheap)

GOOD LUCK, you guys will have a blast what ever you decide.

    John
