I saw this Ferrari at a show today and was wondering what type it is. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wish I was as quick as you guys to know what is and what isn't a replica. Can you point out some of the more obvious mistakes that give it away? Best.
The shape of the body is all wrong. Like a woman with bad plastic surgery, or huge breast implants. Also the steering wheel and gauges are not correct.
I hope so. My biggest issues with Ferraris of that period is that nearly every part was handmade - so a few differences from one to another can't suggest How can you tell that the gauges aren't correct when you can barely see them...? You vintage guys continually amaze me. Lastly, there's nothing wrong with 'huge' breast implants.
It also looks have disc brakes, so maybe it's built on a GTE or 330. To me this is really nice looking car. Although some are offended by a body that doesn't look exactly like one of the originals I think it's fine for someone to build a body just as they see fit, that may well be inspired by an original shape. I just don't see the problem.
Look at the nose and front wheel arches. totally out of shape, thus ruining the whole car (to me). It's not a tribute, it's a mockery of the real thing.
I've heard that three cars were built in California using 330GT frames. Anyone know the owner/serial number? Best wishes, Kare

Here are the gauges from a real 166. Notice how the type of gauge and layout are totally different from the replica. Not that hard to tell the difference. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes! The pics clearly show that whoever built the car was working from a head-on photo and had no idea what this car looks like in side view. That's strange!
Agreed. There is so much essentially wrong with it that it is painful, like Onno also mentioned. He who commissioned it must have been 'superleggera' in his head. As I stated earlier, with a little more effort an interesting car could have been created. Otherwise I am glad that I am not at the receiving end of all these uncomplimentary comments.
