Hi my brother's 456m GTA has a rattle in the drive line it has only done 8,500 KM. Does any one have any experience with this problem?

Can you be more specific? 'Rattle' could be anything from a loose heat-shield to something more significant.

Let me guess. Near the right front wheel, loudest at cold idle.

Believe it might be your throwout bearing. Have it checked right away.

I had a similar sound...more near the rear wheel well. I lifted the car, and stetho'd the area after checking the trany level, and it was the bearing. Even though it resonated toward the rear when on the ground.

    Sounds horrible.

    IF SO

then, have the clutch replaced probably too, as it is too costly to re-do later unless DIY.

ALSO, USE the new HILL Bearings for that from Ricambi. Far superior

Isn't a GTA an automatic transmission? No throw out bearing?

Problems with the driveshaft support bearings were a common occurrence with the earlier 456's --- don't know whether they resolved the issue on the M, or not. That would be the first thing I would check...
