I think the Lusso looks good in cabrio form. Also I know there was a real one actually converted this way. I think it was custom ordered from an outside "carrozeria" (spl?) in the early 70s or late 60s. I am not sure but I don't think it was red tho.

It looks like someone just cut the top off of a production elite and glued a cover to resemble a convertible boot. Nice job.

You are correct. It is a HW Elite that had the roof cut off and a piece of leather glued on the rear. I wish I could remember where to find the picture of the real thing.

I have an extra one of these non-Elites brand new on the box----How hard would it be to make a cabrio version..

Excessive cowl shake is going to be your biggest problem. ;)

I don't like it. Too much roof left on the top of the windscreen frame. No real cabriolet looks like that.

oh YES !!!; I just had to search for a while, but - funny - if you search on Google for 'Ferrari Enzo GT Le Mans' one of the first search results is that FCHat-thread :)
What can I say; 'Le Mans' seems to sell. Therefore this picture. 308 GTB Le Mans ( mine ) :)

    Best Regards from Germany

How much more involved would it be? I would guess you'd have to disassemble the car? I've never taken one apart.

IMO removing the roof and the beautifully shaped backlight really diminishes the appeal of the Lusso. There's a reason why the best Italian Cabrios and spiders of that era rank among the best looking of all time and usually had bodywork entirely different fron their tinroof brethern and vice versa.

I would agree with you, but it is not always the case. The 330GTS is a mirror image of its GTC big brother, sans the roof. Maybe I worded it wrong. What I meant was that from the Ferraris that were never made in open form, the Lusso is one of the few that look alright. The 250 GTO on the other hand looks like crap without a roof as it looses its balance.
