Hey Alan, I saw your car at Poe Elem., I tried to put a hand print on it but they said I was too old and that I wasnt a student at Poe. I yelled at you when you drove by. I was at Bagby and sumtin at the Texaco tower. Good parade it was.

Wow thoes are pretty impressive. I liked the "High-Five Ferrari" but the one that most catches my eye is that wooden wedge car. Whats up with that, is that really all wood? Clever!

Yes, the wooden car would have gotten my vote. Very well done. Don't know how well it would hold up actually going down the road, but that's not the purpose of the Art Car show. Many of these cars are only driven once or twice a year. But most were actually driven to the parade.

    Thanks Dr. Tax!!!!

Glad you were out Skizo!! The elementary school tour is the high point of the Art Car Weekend, IMO. I was blessed by an elder Sister at the Catholic School, saw a group of young girls that recognized me as attending their birthday party last year, and by the time I got to River Oaks Elementary School it was like.... "My Dad has a Ferrari, too..... My Dad has a 360 Modena Spyder.... My Dad has TWO Ferraris, one's a Testarossa.." LOL!!!
    I LOVE this town!!!!!!!

The kids are what it's really about, firing up their imagination.
One photo shows the PreK group looking over the front fender, while Speedy308 is hanging with a bunch of Fifth Grade boys, looking under the hood in back, "Talking Ferrari....."

It takes hold of 'em that fast!

I gotta find those Vogue shots of Valeria on the hood, man. That Houston Chronicle guy had some boss Nikon equipment with a side fill flash.
I think he just liked the dress!

Actually Will, the car was great!! Clutch and brakes get a good work out, due to stop and go, but cooling system held steady, and the weather was HOT!

I noticed my roller skating "I Dream of Jeannie" escort was utilizing the air cooling benefits of NO UNDERWEAR!!!! Sorry gang, no pics. I had BOTH hands on the wheel! ;)

    'Till this time, next year!!

Additional photos are in Houston Chronicle online.

    Thanks again to Dr. Tax!!!

You'll notice the Bentley in one shot, painted in the "tie-dyed" motiff.

He was my inspiration years ago, if he could do a Bentley, we could do a Ferrari!! The handprints belong to my children, Amanda and Scott. Amanda christened it "The Handyman", but also refers to it as "The Money Pit" LOL!

That Bentley belongs to the Owner of St. Arnold's Brewery, here in Houston.

Those "in the know" can usually find a cold "Lawnmower" in the trunk of that car, and they also make a great "Root Beer" for the youngsters! A very nice man, with a lovely wife and kids too! St. Arnold, the Patron Saint of Art Cars!

Yeah, I have to go for a ride in your Ferraris some time. That one guy with all the American flags got a round of applause. That was an awesome go kart man, Support Our Troops.

You guys in TX actually need a parade for those cars? Here in the People's Republic of Berkeley, you can see 7-8 of those per day, no joke. :D

    Dr. Tax, very nice pictures.

    Alan,

As usual your work with the kids is very kind and it certainly is a very good contribution to society. Really nice to see you giving back. :) :) Keep up the good work.

One question for you, if you are the gentleman in the yellow shirt in the first couple of pictures, then who is the gentleman in your profile next to DE?

I always thought you were the guy next to DE in your profile, but that gentleman seems to be a bit different shape than the gentleman in yellow shirt in the first pic here.

    Need some englightment here. :D

    Dale Earnhart??? THAT's me!!! LOL

Usually in a red nomex suit, like profile.

That was too hot for the parade, so that's me in the yellow polo, with daughter Amanda, and friend.

I have gained a LITTLE since the last kart race, admittedly, flying a desk.
I noticed when I had to buy new clothes!!

That XXL cat (on left) in the profile pic is Jeff Redenius, my long time Crew Chief for the kart team. He swings a mean clipboard like you would not believe!!

Valeria is co-driving, Amanda 's still too young.

That profile pic is from when I won my class (kart) at the 1998 Texaco Grand Prix of Houston, from the pole. That's REALLY me, I drank Dario Franchitti's champagne. I think they grabbed it by mistake!!! 9AM Sunday, a little early, even for me!

Are you kidding? I am already old. :( I was in the car with my younger sister, and she popped in some music, and I decided to change the station to what I like, and she asks me who the band was. The band was from 1996 or so!! She had no idea who it was. I already am old.

Btw I think you misunderstood my comment. On your newer pic that Dale posted in the yellow shirt, you like very fit, compared to your pic with DE, thus I didn't understand who was who. :) In essence, I am saying you look better now than before.

I think I will shuddup now, before I complicate situations much farther.

You keep saying DE (Dale Earnhart)

He wasn't at the CART race in Houston, that's me on the right in that pic!

6' 3" 175#. It jus' varies where I put it.

HOLY MACKRO! Am I a retard or what? Since I swore the gentleman on the right is Earnhart, I thought you were the gentleman in the left in the white shirt.

That is why I kept asking, how the heck did you change. (I didn't want to say, how you lost 150 lbs), thus I was being polite!

On second look at the pics, you don't look any different than before, but the resemblance to the intimidator is striking!
