About 2 years ago my F40 was involved in a relatively minor fire which started in the left hand fuel tank. Although the fire was put out quite quickly and damage was limited to cosmetic damage to the body work it required a complete restoration. The powder from the extinguishers went everywhere and left the car in a total mess.

2 years on and my F40 returns from Michelotto after being totally restored. I will post some pictures later in the week.

The car was stripped all the way back to the chassis, stripped and recoated.
The gearbox and bellhousing have been completely refurnished.
The engine has been stripped, rebuilt and recoated.
The rear bodywork has been replaced with new lighter weight Michelotto panels.
The list goes on and on, with a photographic record of the rebuild.

The car looks like a new F40 (better than new), it truly is stunning.

As stunning as it is I'm seriously considering selling it but have no real idea of what to expect. I'd guess at least £235k here in the U.K judging by whats available. But how many F40s are there in the world that have had this type of first class restoration work by Michelotto?

Michelotto did some work on one of the F40 prototypes but nothing like what your F40 received. What year is your Euro F40?
I too would look forward to seeing photos of his work!

Hey Mark, sure you don't fancy something like this rather than a 599?

Why would you consider selling after going through such a long and arduous process to create a unique car?

Yes, I remembered reading your post that time & I think u posted some pics of it? The plastic panel melted away.

How often do you guys have to replace the fuel tank or is it a one time update affair? I'd be very interested in this special car but half a globe away doesn't help much & I'd have to pay cash for it.

Please show us what you/they have done & let us drool :D

As you can see the damage from the fire is limited to damage to the body work, the extinguisher fluids and powders literally covere the whole car.

Trying not to be negative, but, should you expect top money for a fire damaged and rebuilt car. I'm not denying the quality of the work or the expenditure. Take it the rebuild was covered by your insurance company and if so, will the claim be on a register somewhere?

Just wonder how a buyer would react?

Cool pics, the work Michelotto do certainly looks top notch! The restoration looks fantastic! Glad you spent the time & money to get her back on the road and not forgotten about!
Also not wanting to be negative, but would a small fire like this deter a potential buyer??

    Either way, fantastic stuff!:)

This was not a simple repair job thats been done to meerely get the car back on the road. This was a restoration that took 2 years with Michelotto. There is no sign of fire damage period. Anything of this car that was either damaged by the extinguishers, smelt of smoke, got hot or didn't look right was replaced.

Looks like the bell housing got treated...is that an epoxy coating of some sort ? Nice to see they took the time to address the porous bell housing issue.

Pictures were posted as I posted previous comment.

However from the pictures shown so far I wouldn't sell this car, from the photos the car looks to be in as good a condition as an Enzo, the car is like brand new.
