http://www.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/070910112408.shtml Journalist admits Alonso-de la Rosa email fake Pino Allievi making it up for credibility... False claims from the Italian media A journalist has admitted that he invented the contents of the supposed email that may be part of FIA's 'new evidence' against McLaren. As the espionage saga scaled new heights in the Monza paddock, La Gazzetta dello Sport published this exchange between Pedro de la Rosa and Fernando Alonso. But Italian journalist Pino Allievi has now confessed to concocting the exchange in order to make his article about the existence of the email 'more credible'. "I made a free interpretation of what might have been said in the email," he told AP, insisting that the hypothetical nature of the drivers' dialogue was mentioned on his article published on Friday.
I wonder what folks here are going to say about this? I guess hoping for an apology from some of my critics would be futile...
Wishfull thinking There is a time for daring and a time for caution, and a wise man knows which is called for...
Yes the real emails we may find out on Thursday involved Ron Dennis and Coughlan. lol Dont get too excited senna as these emails may well have been a lesser crime than what we find out in a few days.
That is pathetic! It ticks me off to no end when journalists make stuff up. I'm still confused, because the first reports came out in the German "auto motor sport" on Wednesday evening. I believe that was before the Italian reporter made it up. So there is a chance, that the email exchange did indeed happen, but just not in the wording as presented. I'll hold my judgement until Thursday then.
+1...I thought that mail was far fetched to be found and still compete on sunday... ...reallity is wilder and will make our beloved lucifer whip blood... lucifer was just "offering" his resignation just to let the team in peace! ...he knows the rotten is about to smell to the sky and he´s trying to cover it with anything... I hope Todt takes a LOT OF tissues so RD wont flood the room on the FIA, or maybe take lots of copies from the "gentlemans agreement" they signed in june to be good neighbours...
With Ferrari's notorious history of cheating, I would not put it past them to create such an e-mail in an effort to damage McLaren...
LOL WOW! you really are a piece of work. Maybe someday your scuderia blinders will come off but I don't think it will happen any time soon.
I know that sounds naive, but what else are we as fans supposed to do? There will ALWAYS be a journalist in between the F1 participants (as in drivers, managers, team owners, sponsors etc) and us. Unless you work there, you have to rely on the reporters to report the truth. A journalist who makes up stuff ought to be fired on the spot. With a gun that is.
Yes I am a real piece of work as I am a Ferrari fan on a Ferrari site (imagine that?)and also see all of what has been transpiring in this fiasco and base my judgements on that. On the other hand it still befuddles me why you, parkerfe and a coulple others even come here. Dont they have a McCheater site or maybe there just arnt enough supporters to start one.
Yes They certainly are accountable for firing up these boards. It would nice to think some on here can read between the lines though .. please dont shoot me
Much of what you are basing your arguments on are speculation, rumors, and innuendo. If you were going by what has actually been put forward to the FIA and what has been factually established and not merely alleged, you might be a bit open-minded. Maybe then you would recognize that those of us who are waiting for actual facts and not jumping the gun on unfounded rumors (i.e. fake letters from Italian reporters, etc) are not by default McLaren supporters. While I know of no metric to identify the degree of support one has for the Ferrari team, or even any other team for that matter, I would say that a true Ferrari supporter would not have been calling for Kimi's ouster from the team after a mere 4 races into his career.
I don't want to come to that conclusion. Corriere della Serra and La Gazetta dello Sport are responsible newspapers. One bad apple doesn't make it all wrong. But it is upsetting when they completely fabricate stuff. This story is juicy enough by itself, no need for lies.
++ on that. But as for the fake - It really makes you wonder what gets into people's heads at times. Wonder what Dan Rather would have to say about it?
Your time would be better spent helping me.. Arrange these words into a well Known saying or phrase.. HORSE FLOGGING A DEAD LIKE
...heheheeeeee....that made me laugh! Notorious...hehhehehjjee...this guy is been watching the circus since Barichello let Michael past...
If I understand correctly there WERE e-mails (or other communications). The Italian journalist gave his interpretation and apparently reported it as fact. Basically the confession of the journalist doesn't mean a thing. Everybody could have guessed what Alonso and De la Rosa communicated.
I'm glad they canned him. As much as I liked him, you just can't do that. I remember the Hitler diary sold to German Spiegel. All fake. It's bad enough when they get their facts wrong, but plain lying is the worst.
Just to clarify, there WAS an e-mail exchange between Alonso and De La Rosa. What this "journalist" (must be headed to the Los Angeles Times) did was make up his own version of what the e-mails contained and passed them off as fact. We won't know anything until Thursday...
