If the Ford GT performance numbers are valid, I think this is a great thing. It ups the ante for Ferrari when they replace the 360. Suhweeeet.

At Pebble I spent a lot of time with the Ford guys who designed the new Ford GT. They told me that the engine made a lot more HP than they were saying it did. They also said it was a lot faster, 5 seconds a lap, at Leguna than a 360. They also said that they have an even faster version that they're going to produce. It reminded me of the old days. They were very proud. I can still feel the thunderous sound that my MK-IV made as it flew down the Mulsanne at 223MPH. Every heartbeat it travelled 300 feet.

The GT's numbers obviously are fantastic. 5 secs a lap at Laguna is vast IMO. How is the interior - seems Ford has done a nice job.

As someone with a car on order, I'm pleased by the 360CS numbers, haven't seen any other as tested marks. And, I could actually buy a 360CS at MSRP. I suspect the GT will be unavailable to "civilians" for some time, until production ramps up (isn't Ford planning to make a relatively large number of GTs?).

Yeah - I know you can walk into any old Ford dealer and buy one, but can any old Ford dealer service one? That's a high performance engine...

Yes... it's not a "highly over engineered high performance engine" it's a common ford engine with a blower, and some misc upgrades. Any Ford master tech that's worked on blown mustang cobra/svt/lightening/etc should be able to service a GT.

The Ford GT's numbers are great!

I thought the Ford GT will only be produced in limited numbers as opposed to regular production. It will be very difficult to buy one now as they probably sold out the entire run. You gonna have to ante up a lot more than $150K to get one on the secondary market.

Can anyone explain why the 5-60 is slower than the 0-60 for all the cars? I've always felt like a rolling start has got to be faster.

Thanks for the interior shots! Have to see it in person, can't say I love it, at least at first blush, from the photos. Looks a bit gimmicky. But photos can be quite deceiving IMO, and, who cares: ah, the performance ....

Edit: I like the more "stripped down" look of the CS interior.

Anyone can service one. It's a very simple car. You will also be able to buy one. They will meet demand and the next version which will follow soon will be even faster.

    Me too.
Alcantera has awesome tactile appeal (as does lack of carpet and the rest of the misc crap that fills the average interior...)
Edit: Do you guys see what I see... ? GT3 1.03G's. Looks like the GT40 and 360CS might have a certain pcar passing them on the outside...

yes the fords performance is insane but i dont like its style and wont believe it till a real production version is tested.

i am more interested in how the gt3 can hang with the cs. that its 1/2 price makes it even worse. i could accept a turbo gt2 doing this for similar $ but not a normal aspirated one. the gt2 would destroy the cs and probably give the gt a run.

is it that ferrari overstates the improvements made to the cs while p understates what theyve done to the gt3?

Saw the GT at the Boston autoshow 2 weeks ago... even being an F-car fanatic I have to say it is marvelous in person. I want one of those too! The interior was not cheezy at all IMO.
