Hello, I work for a Ferrari Restoration specialist in the United Kingdom, and in the case of both of the Daytona's we currently have in at the moment the aforementioned parts are broken in both cars (no doubt due to the age of the plastic). Because of this we are having a number of these produced in a higher quality plastic, since Maranellos no longer stock or sell these, and other sources are proving to be poor value.

What I wish to establish is whether this definately is a common problem with all Daytona's, and where (if applicable) people have sourced replacements.

Here is a picture of the part (also fitted to the 206 gt and the Boxer and maybe others?) just for clarification of what is being produced:
    (See Below Attachment)
Note it is only the plastic housing for the pull latch that is being produced.

If anyone is interested in more information about these, please do not hesitate to ask. Better pictures will also be available soon!

    Regards
    Alex

Common problem. They break all the time. Ditto the metal lever used to open the trunk.

Hi Steve, this is what I thought, as it would of been quite a coincidence that 5 out of 5 had broken on the cars we have in, yet the initial replies on the daytona registry suggested otherwise!

So far the metal lever has only been broken on one of the cars and from what I can tell isn't a problem to get replacements, unlike the plastic housing.

Is it personal experience you have with this problem, if so would you mind providing me with where you sourced a replacement?

    Thanks
    Alex

We have a chatter Verell that has remoulded the cup for our 308/328s.(search 'Unobtainium Supply')...the metal piece on ours rarely breaks.

I have noticed if the latch spring doesn't pull the metal lever back into the cup, the next absent minded shutting of the door does it.....

    Thanks for that info mate.

The first run of these are now being produced, if anyone is interested in any for their daytona/206gt/boxer then please don't hesitate to get in touch.

    Cheers

Can I ask how much these are going to cost. My Boxer is fine but it may be worth buying one for 'stock'.

Dennis McCann and Ted Rutlands have had these in the past. I've purchased them from both.

These are now available, individual pricing of £55 + P&P. These are perfect high quality plastic replicas, any imperfections in the following pictures are down to the lighting:

Are any of these still available and have you sold any to Boxer owners who could verify the fit of the part for the rear bonnet latch?

Hi, I'm pretty sure we have a few left in stock. We were informed by Eurospares that the part was common amongst the 206GT, Daytona and Boxer models.

If you can't find a good source for these then I will probably make some.

    Cheers
