Okay 1 month ago I was 8th on 6 spd Spider list..Today I get a call from sales manager saying "it's Spider time"! They are ordering now. I asked what if I passed and waited for Spider replacement. He said you will be at bottom of 6 spd list (28th). I see being 28th on 6 speed list will probably mean by the time it is "my turn" There will be a replacement for the 420 and the saga continues!!1 This is for a July-August build. just wondering what would you guys do???
Check the market values and then buy and flip it, if it's worth the hassle. Sell 15,000 $20 tickets to raffle it off. Have some jewelry as side prizes. Or sell 40,000 $20 tickets for the "Chance to Win One of Two Ferraris" and raffle off the 550 too. Along with some diamond jewelry as side prizes. Then take the profits and buy a Carrera GT and a Murci conv't.
Get them to step up big time on the 550 trade-in. I assume you also have tax credits you can benefit from too at trade-in time......give then them 550 "today" as a deposit......get them to cut you back a cheque for the difference between the agreed upon 360 Spider deposit and use the cash elsewhere until it's time. Try and negotiate an earlier 420 delivery as well.....if possible.......or a reduced premium that's acceptable on their first, second, third...etc...."used" one.
I had this discussion with my neighbor just yesterday. It will be a year and a half before the replacement will be released according to FNA. The best and most cherished customers will get them first. The first round will have a set of problems as with any new release. You are right about your predictions. The best news is that buying a great car now, the 360, will get you one that has had all the bugs worked out. It should last forever - so to speak. It is a head turner. You will not see the 430 for 2 1/2 years. If you want, you can buy the 360 and get on the list for the 430 at the same time. When your name comes up (in 2 - 3 years) you can buy it and sell it at a premium or keep it and sell the 360. You cannot lose. My friend thinks that all the ball players, rap people, gold chain people and the movie stars with infinite money (and who buy new cars every time they come out) will get the first round of cars for the first year and there is nothing anybody can do about that. aehaas
Buy and Flip (quickly). btw, I'm heartened by the fact that there are at least 28 people who still want to buy a Ferrari with a manual gearbox! (Or maybe they're just on this list because the F1 list was too long...)
Trade your 550 for the Spider. If you like having a convertible, keep it, the spider is one of the best out there. If you're itching to get rid of it, flip it and buy a Murci.
Get the 360 Spider 6-speed and get on the list for the 420 6-speed. Drive your 360 for a few years and trade it in for the 420.
Decided.. I ordered red/tan shields power seats Daytona with inserts& stitching red calipers front challenge Dealer wanted to pay 115k for 550--.....PASO ROBLES!!! Consigning it to SYMBOLIC the guys I bought the Gallardo from.
Interesting problem, having to configure it specifically for resale. I wonder if adding the rear Challenge grille, modular wheels, and/or the ubiquitous Tubi would make for a quicker/easier sale.
good choice...when will you get the car? i would get the rear grill also as it keeps the engine sign. cooler and gives the car an exoticlook>>>>let us knowwhat you sell the 550 for..what year is it?i can ask around for you also
Has anyone here raffled off a Ferrari for personal profit? I was thinking about buying a 348/355 for this purpose and selling a few hundred grand worth of tickets but I found out that in Georgia if the raffle is not conducted independently by a non-profit organization with pre-approval by the local sheriff, the organizers can get a $10k fine and/or 5 years in jail. I would love to hear about it if anyone has tried it.
Raffles are pretty much considering lotteries and gambling, and likely fall under the jurisdiction of each state's gaming commission. You're right though- it's not really possible without being a non-profit.
The Spyder will always be released at least a year after the new coupe model. So when the new 420 model will be made side by side with the 360 Spyder. So you'll have at least 1 year before the 360 Spyder goes out of date. If I were you, I'll take the Syder now, use it for a year then sell it/trade-in for the new 420. By then the 420 will be a year old and all the teeting problems of a "new" car would have been solved. Never buy the first production cars - that's my motto. I've seen it time and time again that the first production models have parts that are later improved for some reasons or other and it's just not worth the effort of sending the car back to the dealer for recall/replacement.
