Sometimes I feel so sure then I am not ...but have seen a 550 I like and am thinking maybe time is right for a change into something ---more refined and luxurious.....

    Fraser,
as discussed the other day, are you really ready to "grow up" and lose the rag top racer for a grand touring car? Don't get me wrong, i think the 550 is an awesome car with huge road presence and enough acceleration to keep anyone happy....... I would love one, but in a few years time.

    Go for it !!

I love the lines of the 550 and think the interior makes it a far nicer place to be.. and earlier 98/99 cars are at a reasonable price now.

The 550, pure class, the ultimate in understated grace and elegance. The interior is leagues ahead. Proper car for those who don't need to shout.

550- big V12, v fast. Coupe only? open top is nice. Not quite as 'coherent' looking as a 355 IMO, but would still love to own one.

The 550 was EVO magazine's drivers car of the decade recently- high praise indeed, esp when you saw the competition.

If you fancy a change, go for it.

    Really interesting decision...

You couldn't get more polar opposites in my mind (which is slight screwed up after a weekend of hard drinking - so apologies). 355 - raw, show-off, noisy. 550 - huge performance, massively understated (my girlfriend was surprised to find out it was a Ferrari when she first saw one), refined.

I have a solution: - what about buying a 348 for 25Kish for those wild days, then an older 550 for the more refined days. Split you money between the two! (don't think of the running costs!!!)

Frasher, do you like a motor that will not quit? Do you like torque? Do you like having a bottomless right pedal (is the gas on the right in England?) If so, go for the Shark. I just drove mine 500 yesterday on the back road of Texas. Passing two-three cars at a whack, no drama.
