With all due respect to any of the previous owners who were responsible for creating this car as it is today, this is really not an F40 LM. It is a replica of an F40 LM based on an original F40 that was severely damaged. I'm sure the car is wicked fast, technically more than adequate and will be a real conversation point, but it is not an LM. It should be valued where regular F40's are valued and discounted from there based on its extensive damage history. Just my VHO.
It's pretty much a "kit car"... And it's sure no "LM", just an LM REPLICA. As for what it was rebuilt from, NOT MUCH... See this old thread for some pics about 3/4 of the way down... http://70.85.40.84/~ferrari/discus/messages/251280/245300.html
Yes, but I don't know where you're trying to go with the last statement; that's a powderkeg. I believe Alex was also referring to the fact that this car in question (The LM replica) is basically a tube frame car, with many upgrades/modifications over a factory F40. Not just seats and steering wheels, but the whole car is different under the skin. I'm pretty sure if you could possibly only sit in the interior of this car and the interior of a factory F40, you wouldn't be able to tell they were the same, because they aren't...far from it.
The car was at T. Rutland's concours this weekend; and as usual, it was gorgeous. It is a well cared for car, and anyone interested in a fine race car should look into it. I had the great pleasure of following this car for some 120 miles on the way to Atlanta, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Way over priced esp when you have the real deal for 30% more. http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-F40LM-97881
HA! I was just thinking the same thing! It's down in the garage, bobbling it's ass off at the $600K asking price! Wait for it!
What can we say what can we say IT IS NOT AN LM It never was and never will be. It is a F40 that should be on a salvage title.... It is still a Ferrari... It is a nice well cared for REPLICA LM Does AWhite still own it? or I seem to remember something about someone else around here having the keys....
