I'm lovin' my new 308 and just taking note of the things people say or ask about my car.

This is what i've got so far:

    What year is that?

A guy on a bulldozer screamed out "i'd rather have a Chevy than a Ferrari any day!"

A guy in a suit yelled out " Nice Fiero" thinking it was fake.

A man at Starbucks goes out of his way to park his pickup truck next to my car and then has the balls to touch the car. He put his hand on the front and says "the engine is still warm" I wanted to slug him.

Alot of "nice car" and young boys and 30-40 year old men saying "Ferrari?"

An old retired doctor neighbor of my parents asked " that a Jag?"

Two girls at Mcdonalds pull up next to me as i'm getting out and one girl says "hey sexy" the other girl says "she wants to F#ck you!"

All in all it's mostly men that say anything or even notice it. Girls could mostly seem to care less.

Just wondering what strange things have people done or asked or said about your car?

I had some gal with no teeth telling me that she used to own a '59 TBird that she bought for $300 and sold for $1000...wished she had kept it...OH yeah, and she used to own a mustang convertible, 'coulda made alot of money on that one"....But the Ferrari is cool!
She was driving a ragged out, rusted Chevy Impala....LOL!

Other than that, its been "Hey, nice car" and "What year is it?"

Some young punks in a rice rocket always ask "wanna race"?
    What's the top speed?
    What year?
    what size engine?
    How much?
How long have you had it?
    Can I get a ride?

Yeah, it seems that people have to try and top you or challenge you on the street. Alot of pickup trucks get right behind me and tailgate or beep the horn or rev the engine etc.

It definitely gets emotions going in people like no other car i've ever driven. Every drive so far in my 240 miles of driving has had some kinda reaction from someone.

What's funny is that the guy with the nice new diesel duelly pickup or the maxed out camry with leather has probably spent more on his car than mine.

I have noticed that when I am on a freeway, everyone wants to pass me going 20 mph or more. I thought my speedometer was off when I bought the car. It happens all the time. Some people dont know what a Ferrari is so they say, You have a Magmum PI car.

My car just seems to get a lot of love. Some young kid (maybe 12 or so) at the Blockbuster where I pulled in to return a rental said he liked my car and asked me what kind it was - had never seen a Ferrari.

Also some young guys (maybe 20 years old) at a stoplight, stopped to my left and were giving the "dude that is such an awesome car" speech. And it was sincere enough, even if the car was as old as they were.

What's really funny is people ask me about the 328 like it's my kid. I can't run into anyone I know without a "hey how's the car?" question.

I'm always amazed at the power of the Ferrari name. I live in a nice ZIP code, so when I have the 328 out for a spin I can usually point out a bunch of cars that are more expensive. But Ferrari really got it right. I have felt bad when I've pulled next to brand new 997s in parking lots or at lights. And I followed a new DB9 Volante into a restaurant parking lot last Wednesday and realized that while the Aston is a damned fine car there were probably more eyes on the 328 behind him - slower and older, but hey -- that's a Ferrari.

dont race, you will put followers in deep trouble quick, way over their heads in a flash, youll be cruisin easy and they will be on the brink of destruction in an instant, especially motorcycles, dont race HDs as they are road kill and the LAW will not tollerate the Redcar.Let the late vettes go off the line, youll see them soon enough again if on the interstate as they cant keep high speed pace like the 3 litre.

I had the "speedo thing" years ago with a White Crown Vic. LOL. Took me a week to realize people were driving 10 under the limit because they thought I was a cop. Once I figured that out it "clicked". Made it a LOT easier passing anyways!! LOL.

Anyways, I like this thread so far and wanted to say thank you. Keep them coming, I have a big grin reading them.

If I had a nickel for every time someone asked "Where's Magnum?" I could buy an Enzo!

    others
    Nice car is it real?
    How fast?
How much? Which most are surprised when I tell them
another version of the Magnum jokes Where's your Tigers cap?

This wasn't a question but was the funniest thing that happened while I was out in it. I had just got the 308 and drove it to Indianapolis for the F1 race. I got close to the track and traffic was backed up and moving slow. The driver in the SUV in front of me climbed half way out of the window yelled back to me NICE CAR. He was still in gear and rear ended the car in front of him. Luckily no one including him was hurt. My buddy and I laughed about that for a while.

I heard the Magnum thing alot during test drives and the first drive as a new owner but haven't heard it since. It started to get to me. I told myself to stop being ****** and just get over it. From now on if someone say's is that the Magnum car i'll just say yup and give 'em the thumbs up.

I hear either Nice car or nice Ferrari, usually from teenage kids.
I did have an old guy in a 60's ragged out pickup truck say to me "want to race?" , then we both took off side by side , I let him win, I figured it would make his day. It was pretty funny.

My nice experience was being stuck in Rush Hour traffic on the 57 north on a friday afternoon. Bumber to bumper traffic 7 car lengths of space behind me because no one wanted to get too close. JJ

California is just cool like that when it comes to cars.

Once when i had a day off while working for BMW i took a 5 series up to Carlsbad from San Diego for some surfing. I rented a surfboard and stuck it out the sunroof. I've never gotten the thumbs up so many times before. They just loved it.

I know its the Mondi but the reaction is pretty similar. How fast, much, can I race you, that kind of thing. Never had the girls saying they want to f*** me though! Can't think of a negative reaction in the eight years of ownership so something must be right!

At least with the Mondi you don't get the Magnum thing.
If you want the attention of women an old Mustang convertable would do the trick. One day back in Dec. i was reading a car magazine at Starbucks. Every and i mean every young girl/women pointed to a Green 68 Mustang conv. in the parking lot or said "OMG i love that car!" A few asked me if it was mine and for the split second before i said no they had that look in their eye like they were just hoping they'd found the owner and were gonna get a ride.

The same Starbucks today with my car had young girls/women walking right by without even a double take. So those two girls were unfortunately a fluke i guess.

My favourite comments from lots over the years:
    - "that's a sweet little car" coming from a couple of cowboys in big utes
    - "don't suppose you're going through a really nasty divorce and want to swap it for my Holden"

Have only ever had one nasty comment and once asked if it was a replica (but actually the kid was forgiven in this case as I had recently seen a replica in the same location)

I always figured my response to the question of whether it is a replica would be, "Oh man, I've spent YEARS getting to as close as possible. How did you know?"
