    After reading this thread:

I went to have a look if I had a bleed screw. I expected it on the top of the three-screw thermostat housing, but nothing there. I've a '77 carbed GT4. Does this mean I don't have an engine end bleed ? and does it matter when re-filling the coolant.

I bled the front end until water came out, my heaters are hot so is that all I need to do ?

    thanks in advance.

ps, re-wired the fans, but connected them up in reverse - doh. Didn't notice straight away as I got both wrong! only noticed when they didn't kick out and the temp went higher than normal and I started looking for probs. - doh.

Lee, since you don't have a bleeder on the thermo housing, you just had to bleed it from the radiator WITH your heater set to MAX. You may have to do this a few times, after that leave the coolant level in the expansion tank just above the half way mark and you should be ok.

    Cheers,

Cool (no pun!). Sounds like what I've been doing. Actually the setup is the same as Fiat X19 which I've been bleeding for years! Although it's easier on the GT4 as the bleed valve is a lot more accessible.

I'll see what happens to the temp when I take it out on Wednesday with it's new "correct direction" fans!

You could always buy a used thermostat housing with the brass bleed screw and install that on your car to make the bleeding process quicker & more efficient.
