For some reason, there has been dozens of these threads posted... all speculating on what the 360 replacement will be and arguing what it ought to be... any chance we can keep it all contained in one thread to help reduce duplication and redundancy??

Here's a list of just some of the recent threads:
    13637
    13754
    13381
    12960
    12346
    10872
    10769
    10643
    10191
    9950
    7242
    7315
    5712

How about we try to keep all that discussion in this one thread from now on? Just a wild idea... ;) :D

Sounds good to me. Are you going to make it a sticky?

Should I stick this thread? (We try to avoid excessive stickies.)
Maybe I'll stick it a week or so, so that everyone notices it and realizes its here.

We continue to get these threads... here's another, just in case you want to read everything on the topic.

Very good idea...! To fight the repeating of the same old info and or pics...

About the sticky; I'm affraid it wouldn't help a lot...:(
Some people just don't do a search or don't read everything according to the many posts on the same subjects that are already in very recent threads and sometimes even next to each other... I really think there are people who don't even "see" the stickies. And what about the new members every day? If you stick it one week, the current members will most likely see it one day or another, but after that week... a new member can easily not see the already available 360 replacement thread and think..."mmm, why not post that news or nice pic in a new thread". Not knowing most members already saw or read the specific story a long time ago...
I hope the official 360 replacement thread helps, but I doubt it...
Then again, it doesn't bug me that much either...I just try to ignore re-posts...
Of course, we can try to direct those users to this thread...

I just spoke to my local dealer few days ago and was told that FNA has stopped taking coupe orders and they are not making them any longer except for the CS. he also mentioned that the replacement should be out before the end of the year. hope he is right.

Everyone you talk to has a different story. Ferrari of SF, factory owned incidentally, still is not taking deposits on the replacement, and says it is two years away.

Gary, they are not taking deposits now because they want to get over sticker price for the replacements by selling them to their prefered customers which inturn bring back the cars after few weeks. if they take a deposit then they are contractualy obligated to deliver the car based on your number.

Of course it won't look exactly like this one but I still think the new car will look a lot like the 360 Modena... with improvements to the engine and some cosmetics. Like I said before, a bit of history repeating... See it this way... The 328 was based on and the main lines looked a lot like the 308,
The F355 was based on and the main lines looked a lot like the 348,

So I guess the 360 will have an improvement like this also, before a whole new car will be presented!

Just my guess of course :)

Isn't it a bit "early" to replace the 360??
It´s an excellent Ferrari and the Cs version is even best...
First they should replace the 575M...

I agree completely... the 550/575 has been around a long time... its not selling that well compared to the 360... and the new technology it is to be built on just came out in the 612 (so its efficient to have been working on its design in parallel).

Maybe both are coming in 2005... consider a decade ago... the 456 was introduced for a bit, then both the 550 and the 355 came out in 95. Whole new line emerged in 1995. Now the 612 came out... could be followed by both the new 575 and the new 360, resulting in a whole new line emerging in 2005.

    Maybe.

Brian, not to be "nit-picky" :), maybe you just got it backwards by accident, but the 355 was introduced as a MY95 in the US (I know there were some 94 builds) along with the 456, then the 550 followed as a a '97 car. The F512M was still around till '96.

The car will be presented at Geneva in 2005, released in Europe soon after, and released in the US at the end of 2005. Write it down now.

The timeline for the 420 has already been disclosed by DeMontezemolo himself. At the NY 612 event, he definitively stated that the next Maranello comes first, THEN the next V-8 car in terms of intros.

The rumored 600 Maranello will be intro'd at a major show sometime over the next eight months, and I'd expect the 420 to follow it shortly, say another four months after that since they're obviously working on multiple projects at once.

That puts initial 420 deliveries out to about fall of 2005.

What's the next question I can answer for the board? Anybody got anything harder? :)

It looks like the sketches posted earlier might be right on... sketches are one thing, but this looks to be a photo... either that, or somebody spent a lot of time in Photoshop to make it look like one...

Caveat: I cannot trace the source, therefore I cannot verify it.

    What do you think?

Yeah, the big smile gives it a family resemblance to the 612.
But at least this isn't the 612's silly grin... with the headlights
the way they are, and the sharp corners on the grin, it almost
looks like an evil grin... at the very least, mischievous.
