I found exactly what I was looking for, and it was only 1 mile from my house!! http://www.motorwerksgroup.com/2011/ red/tan gts under 6k miles all service up to date and recent asking price was $70k. I would have bought it for more, but I tried to haggle and hardball. That was Thursday. I just called again to say I'll take it at the asking price and was notified that it sold Thursday.. 10 minutes after I spoke with them.
I don't think so. GTS, with that low of mileage, at that price? I think the OP missed the boat. But at least I think he realized it and will not miss it again. Unfortunately the next boat is probably about 6 months away. Good luck in the search! At least you know you have impeccable taste. BT
Exactly , to find any MY at that price and being a GTS with all service up to date, that was a steal. But somtimes, its a steal for a reason. Things always work out and youll find somthing for the right reason anyway.
It'll be tough to find a GTS like that again at that price. When I was shopping a few years ago I was looking for a GTS and couldn't find anything reasonable. I eventually found a berlinetta I had to have and bought for what the dealer was asking. I didn't feel the need to dick around over a couple thousand bucks when I was spending 100k. It's like haggling to get 50 cents off the price of a $10 t-shirt. Waste of time IMO unless they're really asking too much, which this dealer isn't.... $70k for a serviced GTS is incredible. -R
I would go back and talk with them. Many times cars are stated as sold but the deals are not always done. Maybe it's being financed and the buyer cannot qualify, etc. If you want that car, go talk with them. You still might end up with it.
BTW, they are not showing that car as sold in their "inventory" portion of their web site! You snooze you lose!
yea - kick your arse ten times over for that. If everything is what you said it is..you fd-up. That car should be an 80K + car with valve guides done, major with cam belts done.
I've been really down the whole day. I had offered $70k out-the-door. He said he would work the numbers then call me back. I know he had absolutely no obligation to call me before selling it, but it would have been nice to give me first right of refusal. I am so bummed.
No but I did email him saying that if the sale doesn't go through I'll take it. I also asked him to forward my contact info to the new buyer in case the buyer has a change of heart in the near future.
Letting a good car get away is much like letting a good woman walk away....its simply that you didnt have time to find the flaws so think you missed out.
hence "lesson learned" I just figured we would go through the negotiation motions... just because that's what one does when buying a car. I wish I was there in person, then I would have driven it off the lot. Unfortunately I was away (and still am) on business. I would've sent my wife but unfortunately she flew to see me for the labor day weekend.
Take a mature business approach. Pick up the phone and talk with them. If the deal flounders and they know you are serious, you'll grab that beauty. Don't hide behind an e-mail. Get aggressive!
nick, don't be so hard on yourself. you have every right to wanting the best deal for your hard earned money. after all, $70k is a lot of money. there will be others out there. best of luck to you.
Thats a great deal I would have paid 100K in Canada, no such cars to be found with such low mileage. Thats just to bad TN
Don't BS the guy......and powder puff him. The car was way below market, he f-up because he didn't know a good deal when he saw it. He waited and the next guy didn't. Lesson learned and note to self. Brush your self off and be ready when the right car comes along. Too many people sit on their a s s waiting for the "right deal" rather than the right car. He blew it with both the right car and the right deal. So get pissed, be sad, and then get your check book ready for the next one. In 20 years you will be talking about the car you bought not the one you missed. If the next one is $5K more than your budget no one will ask and no one will care. Buy it and live. If you were strecthing your neck to buy this one then it wasn't going to be yours anyway.
lawdog, show some sensitivity and class. if you read his post, he already recognized this is an opportunity lost. there are other ways to offer your opinions as many posters have done on this thread without resorting to that sort of language. it serves NO PURPOSE kicking a poster with sort of degrading comments when he is down and voluntarily made himself vulnerable to the community.
You never know until you see a car in person, could have had previous damage, mis matched paint on panels, interior issues or funny noises from the motor. Anyone can make a car look perfect with careful pics so who's to say this was a great deal as percieved. That said really clean F cars are very hard to come by, especially if priced decent, lots of people looking for a clean Ferrari so you do need to act fast if you like the car, low ball offers just don't work with these cars unless the seller knows something is truly wrong with the car and he should take what he can get. Much like beautiful women they have alot of suitors after them.
A car like that in Australia would be around $200K+ which equates to about $90k U.S. But don't feel too bad, you will find another one, just remember the buyer always pays a little more than he wants and the seller always gets a little less than he wants.
