My dad's car is broken down in Nebraska. He broke the alternater belt. Does anybody know what size it is? It's a Mondial 1982.

If it has the combined waterpump/alternator belt it is 7M1000. If it's alternator alone, it is 7M975

Is the Air conditioning belt the same size? Can he just swap the air conditioning belt and use that belt to replace the broken one?

This is exactly why Ferrari put spare belts in the toolkits. If you don't have them in your car, find out the sizes and buy spares. You can always use them at the next service and then keep the old ones for use in an emergency.

If you have the belt, you can always find a shop that can install it. But if no belt, you are stuck until you get a new one. The inconvenience is measured in days rather than hours.

These belts usually don't just break. I would suspect that the water pump is on it's way out.

I changed my belts a few months ago, preparing for my trip to Le Mans, at the time I bought Two sets and put one set in the tool box, Lucky for me as the alternator belt broke while I was away in france. Garage just changed it as you say, easy.
One thing does bother me tho' why did a new belt break ?
Mine had three belts, so I had AC and water pump.
    Moral........Alays carry a spare.
