Well, only a couple of days after we left, who else shows up in Porto Frade but Paul Allen! I guess he didn't need a hotel room!

All I can say is wow. We had a 200 foot super yatch in Pensacola a few days ago worth 56 million. I can't even guess the cost of that thing.

That is amazing! To put this in perspective, I was just checking in at F1 racing.net and there is an article that states Michael Shumacher makes $140,000 a day. I would imagine Paul Allen makes that much every 15-20 minutes.

Ah......to be rich beyond the imagination..............

I like how Allen actually spends his money, unlike some of these guys that seem to horde it. The guy currently has THREE over 200 foot mega-yachts, including the newest one Octopus (400') that's pictured. He's also got TWO decked out, and I mean deckkkkkkkked out 757 aircraft that he rides in.

What other toys does this guy play with, anyone know?

I just hope this guy doesn't get into Ferrari collecting like his fellow MicroSoft buddy Jon Shirley. The two of them could outbid anyone else on the planet if they wanted a car bad enough!

Actually, he's got two submarines I believe. No lie. A backup in case there's a problem with the first one. I noticed he has two helicopters as well.

He and his buddy Bill Gates started Microsoft in a garage. Talk about getting in on the ground floor. He has sold all or part interest in MS and has a company (one of many) called Vulcan Enterprises. (Yeah, He's a Treki too)

    Don't forget people!

Everytime a billionaire buys extravagant thigns like these, he's providing jobs for hundreds of workers, and pumping cash into businesses. He deserves some applause.

A billionaire could also provide jobs for hundreds of workers by setting up some sort of humanitarian agency and training workers to restore some of our country's infrastructure like decaying urban areas, or pumping millions of dollars into our school systems to raise the overall education level, or establish training programs to help displaced workers regain some of our jobs that are lost to low paid foreign workers, etc.

But I guess that it's just more fun to buy a big yacht and sail around the world whether you really need to or not.

I'd be willing to bet that he does give a pretty large sum to charities that do exactly that, and of course the government too.
