The Italian company expects to sell more than 5,000 sportscars this year, bolstered by Scaglietti. December 1, 2005: 6:47 AM EST BOLOGNA, Italy (Reuters) - Ferrari expects to sell more than 5,000 of its sportscars this year, a new record for the Italian company, Deputy Managing Director Amedeo Felisa said Thursday. "The sales are the result of a year of hard work in which we have had a strong push on product renewal," Felisa told reporters at the Bologna Motor Show, where Ferrari is unveiling its new Fxx model. Felisa said one of Ferrari's most popular models, the low-slung 612 Scaglietti, had sold a record 650 units this year. Ferrari, owned by Turin-based Fiat, sold a total of 4,900 cars last year but sales in revenue terms have been dented in recent quarters by the strong euro.
LOL, i was wondering the same thing...! Didn't they revise the 612 to the 612 MY06 because of how much sales were faultering...?
Well I hope they exceed their projected sales numbers and continue to flourish and provide the world with the most beautiful cars.
Isn't the 612 popular in Europe? Just because it's not that popular in the US doesn't mean it's not a success for Ferrari.
LOL. I saw the thread title and thought I'd be a joker and say it was because of the 612. But they beat me to it! My hunch is they are trying to create desirability by trying to make it LOOK like the 612 is their golden goose and not the 3-year waitlisted 430. Yeah right!! When will the retrospective come out: The 612 Scagletti: The Car That Saved Ferrari? They don't need to hard-sell the red-hot 430... And it's always "among the most popular" when there are only 4 cars to choose from. It's the LEAST popular. A story misguided by Ferrari PR.
Very few companies (other than Ferrari) would make news by announcing a 2% increase in sales volume. (In fact, most companies would try to change the subject.)
True. However, I think that them selling over 5,000 units(sounds like a milestone for them) is what they're tooting.
Remember what Toyota said years ago about that Fugly Celica w the 4 headlights & the Hognose ? The 612 is "VISUALLY DISTINCT" LOL Wheras the Schmenzo is "VISUALLY DISFUNCT"
I thought the Enzo was the least popular in that regard then? Drive the V12 2+2s, they are different. Different is good.
Is that more of a result of Ferrari or of the banking/lending industry making credit so accessible and easy? Judge - I still want a 456.
Erik, I've been meaning to bring this up for a long time, but have you seen a doctor about this illnesses of yours? I think that they have meds now-a-days that can help... Your Intervenor
The 612 is a nice car. You can take your baby home from the Hospital safely.... WHAT THE HELL AM I TALKING ABOUT!! BABIES?????!!!!!!!!! *runs screaming from the room*
One must always remember to read very carefully. Sales don not mean sold to end customers. It means cars Ferrari has sold to dealer. Look at the number of "Used 612's" on the market. IMO this is not a good sign. The euro is also dropping which hurts NET. A tougher business than this PR release might lead you to believe.
Bingo! Not an exclusive at Ferrari but they have been known to push off a lot of inventory to dealers at the last minute to make records. Might be a good time to cut a good deal on that orange/blue 612 you have been eyeing.
I suppose the more they sell the more the newer models will depreciate and make them less expensive affordable for all.
I think it is getting worse. I'm looking at what Ettore Bugatti called "the world's fastest trucks" as the next purchase...
I actually typed that the first time, but changed it so that more people would get it. But I still think the original quote wasn't in English...
