You can just show up but lunch is usually pre-arranged for those tracking their cars unless otherwise arranged ahead of time. FOW will also be out at the track July 23 and 24, unless it was cancelled. Last I checked it was still on. You do not have to be an owner to stop by and check it out!

I used to go all the time as a none owner, no one cares, everyone is to busy racing!!!!!!! LOL!!! Then I got tired of watching and started tracking!

I will be there half day on the 23rd and full day the 24th tracking the 360 for the first time!!!!!!! I just ordered new PZero tires for the fronts! The July track days are on the main course, a much more forgiving and faster course. Its also the better course for taking pictures. In October we will be on the Shenandoah course, much more technical, off camber turns and so on. They really eat up the tires there, not to mention not much run off!!! Its also a little harder to get some good shots, fewer spectatotr spots.

    See ya'll at the track!!!!!!!!!!!

I've already taken the day off for the 23rd. This will be my first track event. I'll be there to take pictures as I don't own an F-car. Robert, I look forward to seeing you and your 360 again! I have two quick questions:

    1. Besides contacting Redding, do we have to pay to get into Summit Point?

    2. Are people (who are taking pictures) allowed in the paddocks/garage area or they just limited to the stands?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Eric,
Just call Redding Finney at FOW and he can register you for the July event. The October event is not yet open for registration. You also need to talk to Josh at FOW about a track inspection of your car, this is free service at FOW. Oh and you need a helmet, if you can't find one to borrow, may I suggest OG racing in Sterling, Va. You can order over the phone or visit the store or website. Ask for Brian, he is great guy and you can get a good helmet for $350-450.

Hope to see ya in July!!

    Bill,
Just show up! Summit does not charge to view and you can walk around anywhere, just not on the track!!!!!!! LOL!!
Tell the guy or gal at the gate you are there for the Ferrari group and he will have you sign a waiver and roster, thats it!!!!!!
They have a couple of towers on the track that make for some great places to get photo shots!

Just watch your smoothness on main...I acutally found it the most dangerous track I have ever been too...there are MANY high speed/big brake to high speed turns which will eat your car if you arent silky smooth! Also, going into the final turn before the main straight (whatever they call it # wise now), DO NOT LIFT after you are committed...there is PLENTY of asphalt run off but a tank slapper would wreck more than just your day...

(btw...been to Lime Rock, Laguna Seca, Summit Main, Jefferson Circuit, Pocono and VIR)

The October event has been switched to the main track at Summit Point (I am pretty certain), so it will be a better event for most of us - except for the Lotus guys who really eat up Shenandoah Circuit. As far as being out there and not driving, it is super informal and you practically can go anywhere you like. People shoot from numerous spots on the track and there is typically at least one professional photographer taking and selling photos.

I hope to be there both days in July and look forward to driving on the main circuit again. I drive a titanium 360 spider and am normally parked by the FOW truck.

FYI, be careful with your speed on your road trip as you get near the track. Route 7 seemed to be well patrolled early in the morning (speed limit is 55 mph) and I've been told the residents report any speeders on the road that connects Route 7 to the track (I think that road is 45 mph then later slows to 35 mph).

Driving home in the evening at 55 mph feels like you're in super slow motion after doing 100+ during the day on the track.

I'm going to the event on Tuesday, July 24th. Hope to see everyone there.

I assume you won't be going this way, but just FYI on the Harper's Ferry route there's a single traffic light (at 671) that backs up 340 terribly. At least that was my experience last September on a weekend. Might be better during the week.

Also, the track itself is seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The most direct route from my hotel even involved a single-lane bridge.

Yeah Robert, I'll take your advice when I'm taking my action shots NOT to be on the track!! LOL. It's great to know that I don't have to pay anything, but I think I might still register with Redding as a spectator so I can eat and socialize with you guys. :)

    See you on the 23rd!!
