it's of course going to be technically excellent, but the styling really doesn't do much for me, it certainly isn't going to age well, like the F1 has IMO

in particular, and not to sound too critical, it's canopy is pure zonda (which is good) but the mirrors are just taken from the m12
the large blacked areas of the nose and side insets are strictly non-functional reason for being black voids, so left looking plasticy, same with the side 3/4 lites, which are just blacked out panel, not a continuation of the side glass ...in all the design literature i've read over the years & my own personal appreciation is that to use such large blacked out areas for effect, lacks good design aesthetic without being a contributing form
the back end looks much more interesting, but the grill work appears to have solid panel directly beneath it, so again, non-functional reason for large black void area ...at least on Ferrari's same grill work is a functional reason made aesthetic, this is not

i look forward to the F70 release, if Ferrari continues as they have in the functional 458 design, and even the F12, it's likely to be much more appealing IMHO

Needed center seating. Really the only issue I have with it....

+1 could have been, and should have been, a design feature of the mclaren premier flagship(s)

The contrasting black body panels are throwing it off for me. I can't really "see" what it looks like. (Sort of like how a single-color Veyron looks different from a multicolored one)

I would like to see one painted a single color. But it certainly looks "extreme"! :D

I think this is being done on purpose, as I posted earlier, the photos that I have seen of this car are far more flattering than these 3 pictures.

Using ferrari as an example, I think that the pre-release press pictures typically do not look the best. Looking forward to real life pictures for sure! I think it will look incredible.

Pretty sure that current safety regs and crash standards make a centre seat virtually impossible, short of making the car 10' wide...

I like the rear (Not beautiful but very aggressive). The rest of the car doesnt do much for me.

the F1 had incredible crash test performance, so central seating would not be a hinderance to that ...it would not be possible with that zonda-like canopy however

i come off sounding more critical perhaps of the niitial photos of the design, i'm sure to see it in the flesh looks better, same was said of the enzo when it came out, however the F1 is a really tough act to follow ....imagine if they had asked murray/stevens to come back and design this car, they have already said it would come out looking pretty much exactly the same :D

MP4 tub, same engine, with 1000hp (so probably bigger turbos and some cooling). Would have expected something bespoke of Mclaren.

I thought that central seating position was one of the key features than made the McLaren F1 such a legendary supercar. I can't think of any other comparable supercar that did this - the only one that springs specifically to mind particularly is the BAC Mono and that's not really a supercar, it's more of a trackday car.

Missed opportunity, perhaps? I wonder if the idea was ever explored internally within McLaren.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I'm not quite getting all the excitement ...

The sharp rear fender lines above the rear wheels look very 458-ish (in the same way the front of the MP4-12C looked very 360-ish) ... as does the cockpit "placement" within the fenders.

The full rear view is interesting ... but only the "top half" of the rear view. The entire bottom half is consumed by the diffuser-like undertray. Essentially, you can see way too much "under" the car from the rear ... and it detracts from the top lines of the rear, which are quite attractive.

Nothing all that wonderful, breathtaking or new here at all ...

    Don't like it
Looks like a daytona prototype dallara mated with a MP4-12c and Battlestar Galactica Pegasus watched over them or the designer drunk too much vino........:)

The most important thing about it too was that you look so much cooler having to babes flanking you when you get out........No more..... I think in the end though it was probably regulation that got it killed....

i love it esp in mclaren orange but wish it had central seat.

its not as radical a departure from its competitors as the f1 was but thats more a function of how many hyperexotics there are now. we re getting used to this type of car so its harder to shock us.

lets see what the f70 looks like

Vomit. God I hope Ferrari gets it right. What kid wants that monstrosity on his wall. Just my opinion.
