Horrible F355 Crash On Track

Fire.
Not for the faint of heart. Video title says fatal, but the second clip shows that not to be true. The track safety crews are just about useless here.

Thanks for the detail on the case. I searched FC for driver and found no reference to this, but guessed it had been around the site before.

thanks guys

Most of the time things go really great and you have a lot of fun. This brings home the often disbelieved potential damage that can be done.

Makes me move the safety gear up on the racing budget. It is not just boy racer garb for wannabees, this stuff can really save your bacon...and other body parts.

61 years old and hopeing to make it further,
chris

Ah yes. This is from one of the Japan GTC.

The Japanese driver was damn lucky & survived but had burnt scars. The visor on his helmet melt....

Quite a horrific crash....

I recall reading about this crash somewhere on the net. The driver ended up suing the track.

It wasn't until after the 2003 motoGP event that claimed Kato that marshalls at japanese race tracks recieved proper training. In Kato's case..after he crashed the marshalls dragged him away after his crash before throwing him on a stretcher.

The BEST crews I have ever seen are at IMS for the Indy cars.

Safety vehicles are rolling almost everytime before a crash is even stationary.

Bill- You will note the lead-in to the "fatal crash" video was "Spdkilz", who try and publicize fatal (non-fatal in this case) accidents for their own political ends.

Yes, I noticed that. I did not bother to go to their site as it just made me uneasy to even think what that might be about. I got the links from Streetfire videos. On a lighter note, they have many great Ferrari vids.
