Does anyone have a source for (2) rectangular N.A.R.T. decals as used by Chinetti at Lemans 1960?

I need them for #1759GT. One photo attached you can barely see them on the left front fender which is a photo from 1960 Lemans. The other photo is of the model of the car which shows the right side along with the white stripes. The photo of the pin is similar to what the decal would look like but for 1960 I do not think NART was in a blue background but rather yellow with black letters. Also the american flag was not at the top just red white blue in place of the standard italian Red white green.

I need this asap!!!! Any help would be SUPER

Please either email me [email protected] or call me at my office Moorespeed (512) 474-7223

ferrari285 on the 348 board just had a bunch of speedline decals reproduced for the 355 challenge wheels. They came out awesome. Perhaps he can give you some insight to the pitfalls of trying to reproduce the old stickers. I am sure if you post that they are available other fchaters will want some too and get the costs down for you.

I really don't have issues normally reproducing old vintage decals because we are very detailed scaling them and doing lots of research if we don't have an original. Dave Schnorr is my decal guy and just about every pro race team since the mid 70's but he's on vacation with his son.....he has the originals in his computer. The only real problem is getting a good photograph of the car when it raced with pixels great enough to clearly id them that can be really hard especially on a decal that may have only been on the car for one race and of course its usually the race that is most important in its history that you can't see.

I just need to find some in the interim as I'm trying to deliver the car for an event and want it complete.

    thanks

My recollection is that there were 2 styles of NART decals- the early ones had North American Racing Team spelled out. The later ones, which I am pretty sure are ok for 1960 are basically the pattern in your illustration. I have seen 2 sizes of them, large and smaller. I have some of the smaller ones (approx 6" high") that I bought when Chinetti was selling to Miller and cleaning out the parts room. Today is thurs so I dont see how to get them to you by tomorrow.

GREAT photo. I've been really needing the rear view as I was curious how they put it on the back with the numbers to the right side

    David,

I have long desired to have my graphics guys make replicas of these for my cars, I suppose based upon the pin or a photo.

Do you want me to inquire? I am seeing them today to work on #20405

If we had the stickers I have seen for sale it would help t get them up to what I gauge a 10" +/- overall height?

Anyone got a pdf image? post it to this thread I'll retrive it for them here.......I have a full size badge from Black Barts as ell as the lapel pin.....

    Alan,

There are two sizes, the door size is around 6" tall and the rear is about 8" tall. There also varying designs. I need the one for 1960. Bighorn is sending me two originals that we hope are correct for 1960 but I probably won't get them till Mon or Tuesday

Thanks for the help with the photos yesterday.

Attached is what Adobe photoshop and a good print shop with the proper decal plotter can do overnight.

I could not have done it without your help as the photos posted here were instrumental in me finding the proper NART decal for 1960.

Fortunately I'm very proficient with photoshop and whipped it up. The hardes part was th old style Ferrari Rosso Font as new style is completely different so had to do it by hand!!!

Now it looks like it did at the 24 Hours of Lemans 1960 where it took 7th overall with Ed Hugas and Augie Pabst driving for Chinetti.

    Great pictures!

As I've read somewhere, Chinetti said in an interview that he originally made this logo with the eight white stars on a blue background on the top and the "North American Racing Team" full lettering in black on yellow background on the bottom, and later, Enzo Ferrari himself convinced him to use the NART acronym due to its greater visual impact and the logo changed to the one with the US flag on the top and the white NART lettering on blue background on the bottom. It would be VERY interesting to know when this transition happened, to know what cars should wear one logo or the other.

Augie was at FCA 2009. He raced a 500TRC w/ co-driver Dick Wuestoff in the Road America 500 in September 1959 against our car - here is a pic of Dick, my father and Augie w/ 0556(0446)MD. Augie is a very personable guy and seems pretty accessible. Have you ever talked w/ him about racing in your car?

Bryan, I keep trying to tell everybody that it is more about the people than the cars. From now on, I'm just going to show them this photo.

    Thanks, Dale

If someone were kind enough to send me a really good scan and dimensions, of both versions, I can have them made here for a very reasonable amount.

I think Speedmore still has both versions of the Logo, '308GTB' Dr. Barry does as well.....(later version).

Black Bart's Emporium has the cloissone badges (flat, for rear deck application)...

I am going to have a few made locally Shawn........unless David answers on this.
I saw them in his office for the Goodwood car...

I recognize a few of my photos on this thread? Coco Chinetti ( Luigi Jr.) had some made years ago for the 290MM when he and his Dad ran the car in the Mille Miglia Historica. Coco used to have a home in Stuart Florida? I believe he was in Sewells Point. He may still have the decals.
The other guy to track down would be Dick Fritz, the former team manager for NART. He used to be in Ridgefield, CT.

    Ciao
