599 test drive impressions

Today I took a 599 F1 for a test drive around Geneva. I sold my 575 F1 2 years ago and was keen to discover how much better the 599 might be. I was not disappointed.

I'm 6ft7in and found the 575 a real squeeze but the extra leg and headroom of the 599 was a treat and made driving much more comfortable. The steering wheel is in a much better position and the F1 box was an absolute dream. So fast and yet so smooth when not hard on the gas. Lovely.

Steering is greatly improved at low speed and the car felt much more nimble than the 575.

But the best bit was the noise. A stock 575 is so quiet (I fitted a Tubi "tubes only" exhaust back section to mine) but this baby makes music without sounding too loud and invasive in the cabin.

Only criticism is the seat is a little narrow for my back. That and the 12 month wait from the dealer.

I'm on the point of placing an order though - Rosso Corsa with Nero leather and grey stitching. Just going to think about it tomorrow.
