I saw one for sale a couple of weeks ago at an Italian car meet. Got the guys number and some photos if you want. Ferrari is red, looked in very reasonable condition inside and out, I think about 99,000 kms, seeking $56,000 if I remember correctly.

Thanks Ash.I had a look and test drove that car last Saturday. It was okay but had (1) quite a few oil leaks especially around the rear cam seals and shift shaft seal(2) it required a major service and belts as they were last changed 4 years ago(3) it reuired a new exhaust as the one on it was original and had a few leaks in it(4) paint was about 8/10 which was not all that bad(5) A/C belt was snapeed and looking at the A/C pulley it had alot of burnt belt on it which might tell me that the compressor may be seized (6) the interior had a ripped passenger seat and was cloth(preferred leather) and the carpet was quite scruffy and it had a sagging dash and this is what I found in 1/2 an hour without even taking the car for a PPI.All this work could of came close to $10K+$50K= $60K.$60K for a GT4 is what I would like to pay for a concours car.The seller was a nice guy but didn't give the indication of wanting to move to much on the price.I am supposed to look at another one today but the guy still hasn't gotten back to me so will wait and see

Maurice, I've seen Gerry's yellow car and think you should consider checking it out anyway. you may be converted. It's a great straight clean car. The interior is in better than good condition the body is very straight and the paintwork is excellent. The engine's been out as well, I think the ex. valves were all changed to be rid of the sodium valves. Gerry does excellent work, I would be very surprised if you were disappointed in it. I can't remember what he wants for it, but rember it being a good price for a GT4 in that condition.

hi alex that car is the one i was talking about here.
i'd seen it around a few times, but haven't seen it on the road for a while now, last time was about 4 months ago i saw it on o'connell street near the cinema, i think just after i'd gone for my first ride in mhh's Gallardo! :)

going by the referenced message above i thought it might be goober's, but he's just dusting off the cobwebs and bringing his out to have a play soon so it must be another. i think the owner lives out near magill or something. ad says fully serviced and up to date with $10k spent in jan... happy to check it out. :D

hmm, bid starts at $60k, with "reserve not met"...

Looking at the ebay auction, The high bidder is no longer a registered user and claims he is from Cameroon, which is darkest Africa. Very much doubt it was a legit bid, so the car may still be available.
There must be a rush to buy GT4's in Australia at present, in the past 2 weeks I've had unsolicited 2 phone calls from brokers/dealers inquring if my GT4 was for sale or If I knew of any for sale

well that's gotta be annoying.

so is there any consensus on GT4 value? just earlier on the bogger i pulled out an issue of unique cars from a couple months back with a big fat price-guide at the back, checked out the GT4 and it had something along these lines for condition and value: a) $55k b) $35k c) $18k

having not seen what the cars have actually sold for, but going on average listed price over the last year or two, they seem to run for $60k on average. i'd have thought $50k for a fixer-upper, and $40k for something with a dubious history. but $18k... who on earth has picked one up that wasn't trashed for that kind of price?

I want one! so how much you want for yours? how's $18k sound? :D

Ash I doubt you would find one for$18K.John's car in pieces is worth that much.I saw one about a year ago that went for $36K it was unregistered and needed probably another $15-20K on it to bring it up to good condition. It needed interior work, some rust work, major service on it as it hadn't had a service for 8 years and hadn't been started in over a year so brakes and calipers would need to be checked. It had a rusted rear exhaust header (couldn't see the front header) and the exhaust didnt look to good.It was missing some interior trim pieces and the list went on and on

Ash there is also another car that I was supposed to be looking at last week. The guy had it advertised for $37K.I rang and the guy told me I could see the car on the weekend.I rand last saturday and the guy sais he couldn't show the car for some reason and said ring tomorrow. So I rang Sunday and left A message with my no. to call me back.He didn't call so after the GP race I called again this time he answered and told me the car was his fathers and he would ring him up and ring me back to arrange for a time.He never called back.I don't know how keen this guy was on selling but I grabbed the paper again this week and the ad is still there with a reduction of $35K.I rang again and this time his wife answered and she told me weekend viewing only and that her husband would call me back.Still no call back.Ive given up sounds like a scam to me

Yes, he called re my car #14944 and also re the whereabouts of his old car #15422 ( which recently sold by Dave Thursby from Sydney before he moved to the USA )
The values of GT4's depends on conditon with a poor car selling around the 30K level. About 18 months ago there were about 5 GT4's for sale, since then very few.
My red/tan car has had very little use with only 22000 k's so it's in very good original condition, everything works, has tools & all books, original tyres & wheels ( yep 1979 date coded Michelin's for display only ) and and a set of 16" wheels & new tyres for drivng, it has regular belt/oil/coolant/brake fluid changes irrespective of use however the original paint has some minor defects ( this was a common problem with late 70's Ferrari's ) and the air pump has been removed.
It's the best condition non restored GT4 I've seen and a pretty reliable class concours winner, the value is academic because I don't plan to sell, but I would think anything above 70K would be difficult to achieve

    Regards
    Michael
