    Got woken up at 3:30 am on Christmas morning by a knock at the door. One of my neighbours on their way home from a party spotted a fire. It was my car! My car was parked in my next door neighbours driveway as I had just that day had my driveway completed. The car had been standing for about 2 weeks with the cover on.

    The front half of the car was ablaze, and my initial thoughts were an electrical fault, since the battery, alarm and fuse box were all in the front. However the car had not been touched in 2 weeks, so im not sure what could start the fire.

    I managed to get my hose pipe round to the front of my neighbours house and with a bit of help we were able to put out most of the fire before the fire brigade arrived. Whilst putting out the fire on the car we noticed a petrol can by the garage door (about 1 meter away). this had also caught fire, and we managed to put that out too. But nobody remembers seeing that can there before that time, but not to say it wasnt there before.

    The front of the car is totally gutted. The interior is smoked. The car must be a write-off. The fire and police think it is probably arson due to the mystery can of petrol. The can was alight which they think is probably from where someone who was pouring the petrol managed to catch the can alight.

    However another neighbour thought he saw smoke 2 hours before we put out the fire, hence the strong possibility of an electrical fire.

    I'll take pics and post when I can. Its a sad end to a great car.

    I was truly sad to see your post telling us of your Mondial's demise. My Polly-Anna makeup does allow me to be happy that I wasn't reading someone else's post, telling us of some horrible crash with you in it!!.
    Today just seems to be filled with way too much bad news.

    I would just like to state I was there and Adnaan I still am sorry I didn't wake up when the neighbours knocked on the door, because I was the closest to the door as I was sleeping downstairs. R.I.P enz9 964 (licence number for all you who don't know).:(:(:(::(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

    My condolences - but maybe there's a silver lining in a generous value estimate from the insurance company and you can get another... or maybe a 348/55! Unless you need a seat for your kid, then maybe 456 time?? :)

    very sad news! I hope your insurence pays for the damage and that you'll find a new F-Car soon! Terrible to hear that a nice car dies like that :( ... All the best!

    That is such a bummer, espeially considering how much time it took to find that one. I hope it is easier to find one next time. But at least you weren't in it.....

    really sorry to hear the news, lost a stag once to the same mystery, never found out exactly what happened.

    If somebody did do this then if found can we all have a piece....please!

    what a crap way to start the festive season. Really sorry for you. I agree with SteveF, deeply suspicous. If it was Arson I sincerely hope they catch the bas*ards and hang em.

    Guys thanks for all the comments. I guess we are lucky that nobody was injured. I wont be able to speak to the insurance until wednesday when they open up again, but i hope they dont create any obstacles.

    As for the cause of the accident, we are no closer to establish arson or electrical fire. If it is arson then there is only one person on my list of likely suspects, but since it is a police case i cannot obviously give details. But i will if we can prove it, as it is Ferrari related.

    As for the future, im not sure. I was planning on upgrading to a 456 this time next year, and may decide to bring this forward. My family think that if its happended once it may happen again. I guess ultimately it would come down to what the insurance value my car at, as I wasnt planning on upgrading just yet.

    Hell, just read this and I can`t believe it. Really sorry Adnaan; I too remember you getting her and reading about first bringing her home. Good luck with getting it all sorted mate.
