OK so a little pole here. How many speeding tickets do you have and for what speed and when did you get it. # of tickets 1 Speed 40mph in a 30mph when 1960
This'll be interesting.........zero here, knock on wood Oops that's not true, I thought you were referring to ones currently on my record. I think only a couple long ago for nothing real excessive.
I'm 31 now, and if I remember correctly, well... nope, I don't. I lost count around age 21 or 22 somewhere in the mid thirties. I'm well above fifty for now. What for? uhmmm, various things. Nothing over 89 miles an hour, at least that was ticketed for. I have gotten out of all of them except for two in my driving experience. One was because of a mistaken identity (my Mustang vs. someone else's in Houston) in Houston along with the mystery cop that showed up several times during those appeals who claimed he was at the scene. The other was due to an APB out on myself and two other individuals over three counties. So all in all, I have more than you, your friends and family put together - most likely. Just ask for court/ticket advice. I can tell you how it works and what doesn't work. Trust me, I've been through it all - except for going to jail for wreckless driving. BTW, what do I win? =D
Geez Steve, it's a surprise anybody is willing to offer you insurance with that kind of record! - Many speeding tickets. None that have actually stuck in court.
Way way too many to list, but I tell you when I used to live in Austin, Texas I dismissed 9 of them in 1990. Eight were dismissed in Texas and one in Chicago's North Brook area. It used to pay to have prepaid legal then (only $7/month), I definitely got my money's worth. I am currently fighting an 87 MPH in 50 MPH received on Friday the 13th on my way back from Monterey's Concourso Italiano in Santa Cruz hills. Please speed safely.
I had so many in my "younger" days that I got a letter from the Governor of Washington telling me that if I got one more in the next year that they would revoke my license. Highest speed was 80 or 85 (can't remember) in a 55. Only one in recent times, dismissed about a month ago!
One speeding ticket, almost 30 years ago, for 46 in a 35 zone. Never ticketed, never warned, never stopped in my Ferrari.
lost my license 14 times ... all for speeding. We get 12 points on our licenses here and depending on the speed this will determine the points deducted but basically 4 minor speeds in 3 years will see your license binned. The worst I've ever done was 17 fines in one month, all trivial speeds, nothing over 15mph over the limit. When a young "adult" I got a ticket for exceeding the limit by 90mph but this only looks good on paper as they had signposted the hwy down to 35mph for passing by a weigh station which was abandoned many years prior but it made a great revenue raiser...was only a $30 fine in those days and still 3 points plus nagging from wife Never beaten a fine that went to court yet and I have contested every one of them, the law is very different here in so much as they have all the legislation stacked against you so you can't question the accuracy of the radar or lazer, manner of operation and you can't use a detector of any kind or you will have it confiscated and a HEAVY fine as well AND DON'T even think of using a jammer!!! Even Road Angels are enough for the cops to get suspicious of you. Still, since I stopped driving I've got a clean record
3 speeding tickets.. one 75 in a 65, 50 in a 25 (construction zone, that's a double-double fine) and 89 in a 70 (it was actually 105 but he cut me a break- 15, coming back from Vegas). My good friend has somewhere near 30-40 tickets on his record, and he's 29. Most of them were thrown out or beaten in court, but he's now equipped with a V1, bear-tracker and CD radio. He still does north of 160 on public highways, however. -Chris
None in my Ferrari in 14 years; not for lack of trying...I try to practice the line from the Eastwood movie--"a man's gotta know his limitations". There is a time and a place for everything, and the way some of the respondants to this sound, they are either very irresponsible or very stupid or both...and maybe just a little creative with the truth???
Officer: "I'v been wait'en for you all day long" Attitude928: "Well, I got here as quick as I could!"
nothing too wild. #1: 51 in a 35 #2: 59 in a 35 I always though Online Traffic school was the greatest thing ever (such a joke... did it last time in 15 minutes TOTAL, then guessed on the final test I had to take in person at Kinko's and passed). It sounds like instead of paying the fines plus traffic school fees, I should get some court advice from you "seasoned veterans"?
A very interesting thread with stories from both ends of the spectrum of ticket gathering, but the "curve" really seems to be wieghted on the end with a bunch of nothing more than "revenue generator" type of ticket. I could help myself in not passing along the following "joke". Subject: Rectum Stretcher While she was "flying" down the road yesterday (10 miles over the limit), a woman passed over a bridge only to find a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait. The cop pulled her over, walked up to the car, and with that classic patronizing smirk we all know and love, asked, "What's your hurry?" To which she replied, "I'm late for work." "Oh yeah," said the cop, "what do you do?" "I'm a rectum stretcher," she responded. The cop stammered, "A what? A rectum stretcher? And just what does a rectum stretcher do?" "Well," she said, "I start by inserting one finger, then I work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in. I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely stretch, until it's about 6 feet wide." "And just what the hell do you do with a 6 foot *******?" he asked. "You give him a radar gun and park him behind a bridge..." Traffic Ticket $95.00 Court Costs. $45.00 The Look on Cop's Face. PRICELESS. FORZA FERRARI....
Lost the count... I guess 7, the worst in UK driving 107 miles in a 70 zone... Almost lost my licence but I was able to convince the court that that was a one off. And it was, in UK... Ciao Eugenio
3 speeding tickets in just under 3 years of driving... 1: 104 km/h in 50 km/h zone, $345 CDN fine, dropped to $200 + 6 mos to pay in court 2: unspecified speed (visual observation by the cop, but I was going fast), $115, paid it, I got lucky on this 3: 52 km/h in 30 km/h playground zone, $196 fine, no court date yet, playground zone at bloody 7:45am, no freaking kids around, nobody around except me and the cop behind some bushes and then there's the "Red Light at Intersection" ticket, my light turned red, the perpendicular traffic light had just changed green, cars weren't moving, I turned right without stopping...$170 fine, no court date yet. Lousy revenue generating cops...
i had been driving for 6 or 7 years without a license as a youngsta, a few of them on my L's (permit), which i renewed 7 times coz i couldn't be bothered getting a real license. everyone knew i could drive. then a few years ago i got my P's (allowed to drive alone with many restrictions), in my first week on P's i got pulled over 5 times and flashed by a speed camera. talk about timing. so a total of 2 speeding fines, both stupidly petty like 8km/h, a red-light camera thing, and a dangerous driving charge reduced to "nice avoidance" after explanation to the cop. jeez, you a fan of public transport? i'm absolutely terrified of being picked up for doing anything wrong on the road as i couldn't stand not driving now. tell us more how you coped in these situations...
