How many threads have asked for sports exhaust comparisons??? Here, courtesy of Ric355, is a brief video of 3 systems; 1]ITO Racing exhaust with cats 2]Decat Tubi 3]Decat Capristo http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~richmet/video/exhausts.mpg Which is your fav?
Mine is a challenge exhaust. I am happy with it so far. But I am sure others are just as good. A matter of personal taste really. cheers
I prefer the Capristo then Tubi then ITO. Have you ever heard MS Racing exhaust? It's just as good as those.
Capristo. Wow. Anyone else thinks the ITO sounds like crap? A shame their mounting system isn't the best design, apparently. Thanks for the video!
I think that's more down to the Flat Earth society mentality It makes sense that most people with Tubis on already will vote for Tubi, regardless of what it sounded like in the video, on the basis that they don't want it be second best in a poll and then somehow feel they've got an inferior product. Capristo owners will do the same; there's more Tubi owners than Capristo owners therefore Tubi will win. And those who own neither and have an open mind will vote on the basis of what they heard in the video Or am I just being paranoid
Okay, I watched that video several times over and over. And..hmm...judging just by that, I'm having trouble deciding between the Tubi and Capristo. The Ito sounds pretty smooth and consistent revving up, but I don't much care for the way it revs down, or idles. Not as rich/sophisticated as the others. The Tubi has a great metallic/raspy sound idling and in the lower range and has a pretty nice switch over to a scream in the higher end. The Capristo has an amazing sound at the high end, but it loses the "metallic-ness" while idling and in the low end--having more of a muted, bassy note. Though I love that scream of the Capristo, the Tubi's is pretty good as well, and it still has the idle and low-range I think I'd prefer, so...I'm going to pick the Tubi. ...of course, that might all change with a in-car driving comparison of them all. I don't think I've ever heard the Capristo in real life. My dad's car is stock, BTW.
And that is the key- great though the vids are, they don't give a true idea of what they are like in/on the car. I have a video of my car (355, tubi with cats still on) and my video sounds nothing like it does from in or near the car. However, I voted Tubi. I am biased, but that is why I bought it. The beauty of the Tubi is that is gives considerably more excitement, but without totally dominating. It is very civil on a long run too. Tubi's sales figures speak for themselves. Robert.
Tubi and Capristo are totally different in tone, espech at higher RPM. I really like the Capristo and would've given serious thought to buying 1 had it been available when i bought the Tubi. However, Tubi offer a no nonsense money back guarantee and free trial period and are VERY established players in the US market . Plus , there are stories of Capristo running too hot and developing cracks along the weld lines....
Interesting how nobody has voted for the ITO. I heard one on Fraser's car (de-cat) and it's absolutely mind blowing. Well worth the £3000 price tag. I'd swap mine for one tomorrow
Not a very flattering video for the Ito/Tubi. Still Capristo does sound nice as does the wild Ito but the Tubi is just less "tacky"? What do I know? Tubi!
I've just fitted a Tubi to my 355 and i'm satisfied with it although i have to say that Capristo really sounds great... I would have bought a Capristo instead BUT i want to keep my cats on (and Capristo runs much hotter than Tubi and easily 'cook' the cats) i don't want to fit a challenge grill (and Capristo needs it for its heat issues) i didn't want to deal with cracks (a Capristo problem http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35009&highlight=capristo )
Graham doesn't know it yet but next time we meet up he's going to take me for a spin in his car so I can hear what it sounds like on the inside. I noticed a couple of people commented on the idle sound of the Capristo. Graham has his bypass valve wired open, which I believe will make it sound different at idle than it otherwise would. Ric.
Haveing followed Grahams capristo and Ades decat tubi. Capristo is better sound when revved under pressure, but the tubi is louder and a better sound just cruseing along at 90mph IMO sorry Graham, and its not because ive got a Tubi, I think i said to you at Brands hatch that it sounds good but is not that load when you drive past when we were in the pits ,it did have a completly different sound to the tubis though. Andy
Andy No need to apologise I appreciate the good feedback. I'll just have to remember to always be accelerating whenever you're in the vicinity Ric No probs re taking you for a spin. Next meet should be Ken's birthday do on the 30th. I'll remember to bring a booster cushion
I don't own a 355, so I can vote pretty honestly on this one... The Tubi sounded great when the throttle was really ramped up - until I heard the Capristo. There is no doubt in my mind that that was the best sounding exhuast I've ever heard. *Ever.* .
Two of three cars (tape ended too soon to evaluate the third) have a rattle in the flywheel dampener. They all sounded great.
