    Hey Guys,

I've taken much more from this forum than I have given back, so perhaps this DIY pointer will be helpful to someone else on the board!

I read numerous DIY threads about tapping the headliner light fixture for power for hardwiring a radar detector, but that approach will NOT be keyed to the ignition - meaning your detector will always be on unless you remember to turn it off each time you exit the vehicle. Then, of course, you forget to turn it back on and Murphy's Law says you immediately get a *#&@%$ ticket!! Not an ideal solution for me!!

Anyhow, Autozone sells a 10 amp 2 into 1 mini piggyback fuse holder (see pic) that allows you to power two devices off of one spot on the fuse panel. The "G" fuse panel located in the driver's side footwell has 10a fuses in spots #4 &5. I plugged this simple little device into the #5 spot, crimped the red line (power) of the hardwire kit onto the 2 into 1 red lead and then grounded the black wire onto a 8mm hex head bolt right underneath the fuse panel. I ran the wire under the weatherstripping surrounding the driver's side doo, then across the roof headline on an easily penetrated seam. Pulled the other end out at the top center of my windshied, hooked it up to my V1, and presto, I have an ignition-keyed radar detector.

And best of all, nothing has blown up yet!!! I have attached a couple of pics that I hope will be helpful!!! Best regards to all.

WOLF - I FOLLOW YOUR POST ON HARD WIRING BUT THE MANUAL ONLY SHOWS UPTO A FUSE BOX E AND NONE INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE.

AM I MISSING SOMETHING? I USED A SIMILAR SET-UP IN A PANAMERA GTS AND THE NICE THING IS NOT SPLICING WIRES.
