Hi all, It's been a while since I posted here and I need some help. Just bought a 308 GTSi, 1981. Has been with the second owner since 1985. The overall condition of the car is close to new except for the driver's seat. I am looking for a replacement, either original, good second hand or new upholstery. The seats are leather, black. I am looking for the bottom and back parts. Any ideas where to get with affordable price and straight replacement. I am located in Luxembourg but do not have problems to get from the US. Thanks for your replies.
Find a local apholstry shop to put new leather on. GAHH and Re-Originals are outrageous in there prices for new leather. I think Re-Org want's ~$2500 just for the leather for the seats, then you have to pay someone to put it on. They do, however, have good prices on carpet and vynil
To all, Thanks for the replies. Keep them coming. I will check all the possibilities. @JTranfield: Do you have an address or Email or WWW address in Italy? Thanks, Didier
Didier, I'd be curious to hear what you end up doing and how much you paid for whichever way you go. Let us know. Good luck in your search.
how bad are they? Is the leatherique method out of the questions? Ferrari color seems to come off easily but it can be put back on. And there are other companies that sell re-color kits. They say as long as they haven't turned to suede they can be re-colored. Search this website for "leatherique"
I had an installer give me an estimate of $1200 for both seats AND door panels. Materials and labor total.
I'd like to see how that looks when done. Pics? Cheapest is not always best; or even acceptable at times. However, since in his original post he said he would accept a set of 'good second-hand', perhaps he should query a shop local to him; but his words "...do not have problems to get from the US" leads me to believe this was not an option or he had already investigated same.
He did not do my car, but I got his name from a QV owner whose car he did do and they looked fantastic. The grain match was as good as it gets and the leather was very soft. I just haven't pulled the trigger b/c I've been doing mechanical stuff. The leather is OK in my car but there are other priorities on the list.
I found the pictures he posted from the "other" site. Old first then new. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like they did a nice job. I have to do the seats on my 1976 GTB but its a scary thing! I want a nice job at a fair price. It has to be done well and as original as possible or I wont be able to live with myself! Anyone who has gone through this can share their experience as it will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
