My timing was right...I went to teah at Laguna while 2 feet of snow came down on the ranch. Got lucky to got that trip on such a track. I worked with a student with the Skip Barber school, than did track time with other Colorado friends. The track is just great. We might have done 100 laps or so and had a ball. Now, back to the real world and I will start my day on the tractor !!!
Zillion thanks to Modena Peter who got me there in the nicest way.

Roland, how would you rank the tracks you have driven in North America?

I haven't driven too many, except around Texas, but here is my ranking...

    1. Laguna Seca - the best by far! great conditions, high speed straights, technical turns, fast turns, elevation changes, and camber turns.

    2. Hallett (Oklahoma) - One of Paul Newmans favorite tracks, that says it all. A little Laguna Seca with elevation changes and a combo of fast straights and turns.

    3. Motorspors Ranch CC (Fort Worth, Texas) - Great condition technical track.

    4. Texas Motor Speedway Roval (Fort Worth, Texas) - high speed on oval to slow 180 degree turn. Fun the way SCCA does it as we take NASCAR Turn 1-2 on the apron, so after building speed 3/5ths of a lap we have to skirm around the flat apron.

    5. Texas World Speedway 2.9 (College Station, TX) - Great fun long track. A little of everything.

    6. Heartland Park (Topeka, KS) - Good condition track with multiple turns and fast "drag".

    7. Canabis airfield (Corpus Christi, TX) - The history of driving an airfield course just like the stars of the 50's.

Exactly what kind of flying to they do at Canabis airfield? And is the preferred method of takeoff via ingestion or inhalation?

(hanging head in shame, sorry, Rob, couldn't resist. :) )

Very very funny Farmer Dave !! In TX, everything can happened...
To get back to Rob, my favored tracks are the one I won on !!! But of course, I have a preference. Outside the Euro tracks here is what I like.
    The Glen (big loop)
    Laguna (before the new change)
    Road Atlanta
    Button Willow(long configuration)
    Sears Point (older configuration)
    Homestead
    ElkartLake
I don't like the "infield"type tracks, they are small and boring..
I sure miss the big Euro tracks before they too were changed into a "more safer"track...
I must be nostagique! I like fast and "unsafe" I'm to old to change now...

Buttonwillow before Sears? I'm a big fan of BW, especially #13 CW & CCW but Sears is just so much fun. The elevation changes and blind turns alone make for a fun filled day! :)

I hear ya. BW is the 1st track I'd ever been to and I consider it my 'home' track but after going to Sears or LS, I've learned to appreciate other, more complex, tracks.

Laguna Seca is my favorite race track...
BUT the more beautifull track on this olanet will always remain "SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS".

I hope to drive a f-car one day on L-S...

I enjoyed driving mine on spa...

    just one small pic...

Cool photo... You have the racer's stare in the first pic, but you get distracted in the second, by those guys in white checking out your equipment. :)

Are Helene and Raymond in any of these pics, or are they taking the pics?

I think that the really good thing is that Spa remain a real natural track.
And that security modification didn't change his philosophy, at least, since it was change from 15 to 7 km...

The nurburgring (norscheilfe) is great, you can go there and drive every car you want on the track...but the security is absolutely non-existent !

I drove my MR2 and my Alfa Ti on this track...
I drove my 348 at Spa during Ferrari Days, still a great "souvenir"...
