I love to see different Ferrari models pictured together and today I had a unique opportunity to do just that. After several days of rain, we got a perfect spring day for our car experience trip. We left the brooding weather of Mendocino early and drove south, toward to sun and clearing weather. And we took a last drive in the beloved 355. Someone is going to get a great car with this beauty, as closely factory optioned to a Fiorano edition as you can get. But for me, it was a farewell trip to a trusted friend, as I was to leave the 355 at my friend Neal Daneman's (the car finder) shop so he could sell it there. I live way up north, on the coast and in the relative boonies, so a very hard place to sell exotic cars, especially if they aren't 4 wheel drive! The 355 is set up with tubi, straight pipes and F1 tranny, so it shrieks and wails all the way down the valley toward San Francisco Bay area. I love the f1 when you are at speed and its great to be able to keep both hands on the wheel and my attention fully focused on the road, the line and what lies ahead. I have nothing but great things to say about this car, and it is without a doubt, one of the finest sounding cars I have ever heard. Needless to say, we made great time on the 175 mile trip and had a blast doing it! Once at Neals shop, we toured his usual collection of fine european iron and waited for that sound outside that would signal the next part of our car experience. Not long after, we heard the deep growl outside and knew that Brian Crall had arrived, bearing the gift of a freshly serviced and totally sorted 00 360.(thanks Brian and Chris) But thats a whole other story, part 2 to follow, but first the promised pics. Thanks John, great shots. It's amazing how light the Titanium makes Argento look - almost white in some shots. Both beautiful cars. Enjoy that Modena! Gary
I am very interested to read about your drive home. Please provide a detailed comparison of the 2 cars. Thanks
The 355 is still such a classy looking car. I love Ferrari design becuase it always stands the test of time. The 355, especially in that silver doens't look dated at all. Even when I see a 355 in Beverly Hills among modenas and stradales, Ill still turn and look twice.
John, Wanted to say congrats on the new 360, looks great. Bob did a helluva job as usual. Haven't forgotten about those Tubi air box CF pics I was going to take for you. I'll get them to you as soon as I can. Eric
John, Stunning cars. I was over at Vincent355s house last night, hanging out with him and Bobafet. We were discussing 355/550/360. They had very good things to say about you, often mentioning "John is one of us." I look forward to meeting you in the near future. I love the 355, and your pics side by side, solidifies my likes. Enjoy the serviced 360 Hows the 911 motor boxter?
John; Very cool pics. I am amazed at the stylistic differences between the two cars. At different meets you see the two cars but this is the first time I have ever seen two together by themselves and they are both stunning. Great photography.
I want to thank all who posted their good wishes. I really do appreciate them, its like a blessing for the car.(and driver) I enjoyed sharing the pics and am glad you guys enjoyed them. My only regret is that I don't get to keep both cars! Must be nice, you guys that have several Ferraris. Ryan, look forward to meeting you as well, be careful of the company you keep though....and the boxsta on steroids is one hot little car. She says hi.
i cant really tell if the red 355 above is a challenge or not, but if someone has pictures of a 360 cs next to a 355 challenge, that would make for an incredible picture i think
Those picture show hopw fat the new Ferrari's are getting. The 355 looks lighter and more "race car" then the 360. Both look stunning however, but the 355 has that "look" you just can't describe. But those cars in those colors..absolutly remarkable. I would have them both if I could afford it..Congrats on 2 fine Ferrari auto's. You are a lucky man.
SWEET new ride John and of course wonderful pics!!!! Keep us informed on how you like the difference between your former model and the 360? As you know I too am looking into a similar change. Congats, Mike
Jeffrey, so you are one of the two car guys I spoke of!! Very nice combo. Which one do you find yourself driving the most?
