Valentine 1, it is by far the best.

Is also the only detector that is nicely built with quality materials. All of the other detectors feel like a cheap toy.

If your state allows radar jammers, that is the best solution. A radar detector only works when the police have their gun on. Recent radar gun developments allow the police to turn their unit on instantly, refered to as "instant on". No radar detector can protect you from instant on as you have no time to slow down.

    http://www.radarbusters.com/

Go to the link I posted above and read all about the various options available to you. I have a Valentine One and it is very good, but a jammer would be far better.

No state allows radar jammers. I am, of course, talking about real jammers, not the so-called "passive" jammers that are nothing but snake oil.

I meant to say laser jammer. Laser guns are taking over as they can be pin pointed aimed.

V1 seems to be the overall choice. There are others out there like the Passport 8500 x50 which seems to always get good rankings and sometimes ahead of the V1 (but that all depends who is doing the survey). I think Bel also has a pretty good preformer out there also but no where near the ranking of the V1 or 8500 x50.

The last time the V1 won a test was in early 2002, the Escort products have been winning everything for the last four years.

If you have a nice car (and I assume you do), forget sticking some clunky thing to your windshield with suction cups (how primitive is that?) and get a custom-installed unit.

The best one is the Passport SRX (sold at car dealers) or SR7 (sold at electronics stores), which includes built-in radar detector and front and rear laser jammers.

    "V1"

Any experiences with the K40 front and rear? I guess it will pay any ticket for 1 year, guaranteed.

    Thanks for the help.

IMO stick with the Passport SRX instead of the K40 in an installed application. You can piggyback a laser jammer (shifter) on this one too

I love my V1, it hasn't let me down yet. Standard blah blah blah about not depending too much on any radar and to always be thinking and alert for cops.

    You are completely wrong.

The Valentine One is the best radar/laser detector on the market today.

    http://motortrend.com/features/consumer/112_0508_2005radar_buyersguide/

"This year, the measurement of the radar and laser detection abilities of each of the over $200 units gives the Valentine One ($400) a small edge over the competing BEL Vector 995 ($260) and Escort Passport 8500 X50 ($300 with red display or $340 with a blue display) units."

V1 is the best in laser detection:

    http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=4213&highlight=

V1 has the best rear radar detection because it is the only detector with 2 antennas to locate radar:

    http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=4214&highlight=

V1 is the least detectable detector by RDD's or Radar Detector Detectors in states where radar detectors are illegal. The Spectre III is the most used RDD in the world and it can only pick up the Valentine One if it is 166 feet or closer which is better than the X50 which can be detected 954 feet away.

    http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=4383&highlight=

The Valentine One which accounts for only .6% of radar detector sales wins every poll when it comes to being the favorite detector. The X50 doesn't even get an approval rating as high as George Bush's worst rating.

Radar Roy from Radarbusters.com said this about the Valentine One, "Just spoke with Carl Fors from SML, his website will be going online tonight with the 2005 results. He has declared the V895, 8500 and the Valentine One as the top performers. Motortrend, who was also at the test, will be declaring the Valentine One as the top detector based upon its detection of laser.

    http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=4696&start=90

Radar Roy said, "There were results that they (Guys of Lidar) got during the test that I was not exactly pleased with, such as the discovery of the Blinder not having Stealth Mode installed and the Valentine beating out the Escort and Bel in the range tests. Even though I don’t sell the Valentine, it does have slightly better range than both the RX65 and the 8500 and I also show this same fact on my site. Would love it to be the other way around."

Here is a link and video of the V1 alerting to radar quicker than the X50 and sometimes the X50 didn't alert to the radar at all. They are quick pulling the radar guns trigger and the X50 is filtering it out and the V1 is picking it up every time.

    V1 wins in POP detection:

V1 wins because it detects laser gun in stealth mode while the X50 remains silent:

The SRX and SR7 are not the best by a longshot and they were considered brand new technology in 2002 when they were released 4 years ago.

Even if the V1 picked up radar in 1 mile and you got it 4 miles away with an Escort, that's absolutely useless. 1 mile is PLENTY of distance.

I played with an escort for the past two weeks, and can't be glad enough that I have my V1. Arrows rule.

Beyond the sensitivity of the device is the quality-- the V1 is built like a tank with a magniesium case. The company also has very good customer service.

I have been using an Escort 8500 for a few years. I've been pretty happy with it. I think it could be built better. I've had a problems with the screws that hold it together shaking loose and from having to put them back in the plastic threads eventually broke in two of the holes.

I have been wanting to go with laser jammers front and rear but after looking into different brands it seems that certain brands only work with certain guns and then I have read real world reviews where the units did nothing when tested. Much like the video in this thread where the gun was aimed at the escort and it did not alert.

I think my next unit will be a V1

Silly question but is there a laser jammer that works with the V1 or do I buy a different one and run that too? And it there a jammer that block all radar? Where can I get one at any price? What model is recommended?

I am paranoid because policemen hate me. A close friend is a State Trooper but I never dropped his name, never will. But I was picked on by Five-O as a little boy... And now I want to do some jamming of my own.

Seriously, I got down to a step 9 which gets you the lowest insurance rate here in Massachusetts. It took 12 years. I will arm the car with anything legal or otherwise to defend my right to kick he **** out of most anything that wants to go straight line with the SL65…. (ouch). Those that know me even for my short time here know that was in jest... he he.
