Wow, this brings back a lot of memories. Funny that this should be posted now, as last week I came across an old Road and Track that had the different Group B cars and their specs.

You can see in the video footage how the crowds started really growing from 1984 on. By Portugal 1985 not only were they large but they were getting very brave by standing in the roads. Even at the base of the "jumps." Even though it's 20/20 hind sight I can't believe someone at the time didn't see the dark future beginning to surround these cars.

Fantastic stuff though.

Rally is the only sport that includes the athlete AND the spectator.

 

Thanks for the link, I just can't get enough Group B! I love this vid cap of Hannu Mikkola at the 1986 Monte Carlo rally. Those Audi Sport Quattros sound sooo badass!

I'll tell you what else is badass....all those specator waiting on a blind crest and then scattering.......mob-mentality is below animal behavior. For any rally fan this 1.5 hrs is a must.

 

Is there any way to save the video? Its great footage.
