I had a customer drop off his 97 F355 5.2 injection car last week to let us do some dyno testing on our carbon fiber covers and Fabspeed headers. I am installing the headers as we speak and will have some info up for you guys in the next couple of days with video, pics and dyno graphs!

    Hang tight : )

Wouldn't it make more sense to do a before / after test with just the airboxes on a stock car? I'm sure there are a lot of people interested in the airboxes that have no plans on upgrading the headers.

    What are the before numbers?

The F355 that we have here is not stock. Car already has Tubi Muffler, Fabspeed Cat-bypass and secondary cat-bypass. I dynoed the car as it sat with the components I just listed to get a baseline. I then installed the Fabspeed carbon airbox covers and re-dynoed the car. The next step is to dyno the car with the Fabspeed Headers.

Here is a dyno of the Fabspeed Carbon airbox covers

Nice gains on the airbox! We got 17rwhp on our headers that have been discontinued on a dynojet (311rwhp - 328rwhp).

Look forward to seeing your gains.

    Awesome, nice work!!

One suggestion - change the chart to show rpm across the bottom line versus speed, add torque to the right side.

    Thanks for the kind words.

As far as the dyno graph.... Our RPM pickup leade is not working properly and I cannot hold a steady tach signal past 4K rpm. I can only show the hp over speed unfortunately.

    Jeremy,

Great Fabspeed Products! I was wondering when the car has the cat by-pass and secondary cat by-pass does the car get any check engine lights? I know the Challenge cars were running pretty much the same set up back in the days (2.7) so the ECU should adapt for the removal of the parts but, the later (5.2) 97 thru 99 seem to be more sensitive to emissions? Any input from your side would be nice.

    Ciao,

    SRR

    Jeremy.

I have a 98 F355 Spider (5.2) that I've recently installed a set of Hyperflow cats and Larini Exhaust. Now, I need headers (one is cracked). I've researched as much feedback as I could find on the Fabspeed headers for my car, but figured I should go straight to the source for an answer.

Don't flame me for this, but have the Fabspeed headers been to blame for any fires? I ask ONLY because the shop that does my work has stated this is what they've "heard". I don't want to take anything at face value, therefore I'm asking you. Their recommendation is a set of Stebro headers. However (once more following FChat feedback), I'm more compelled to purchase Fabspeed considering I've heard no one here complain about them (as they have about the Stebro).

Finally, providing I do purchase the Fabspeed headers for my car, can Fabspeed have them coated by SWAINTECH for me prior to delivery? Or, will I have to send them to SWAINTECH myself? I'm considering the White Lightning coating.

Let me know ASAP. I'm ready to decide/purchase and just want to hear from an actual Fabspeed rep.

    Thanks,

    Nick

Thanks for the kind words! The car that we have in the shop now has Fabspeed primary cat-bypass and secondary cat-bypass, and we use a o2 extender (spacer) that we manufacture and its keeps the light off of this 97 5.2 injection car.

    Nick,

I can assure you that we have never had a customers car catch on fire due to the Fabspeed headers! There are tons of guys on this forum that run our headers and can give you some feedback on our quality.

We do not offer the swaintech coating, but I do have a guy that does all of our ceramic coating inside and out of the header which work great.
If you have any further questions or want to place the order please contact me and I will be sure to take car of you since you are a ferrari chat member.

Ok guys...this is what you have all been waiting for!!! I finally got the 355 back together late today and was able to strap it down on the dyno and make a couple pulls. tomorrow I will have more pictures and video for you, but I wanted to at least get the dyno graph up for everyone tonight. The headers lost a little bit of midrange power but really opens things up from 5k all the way to redline. I took the car out on the street and went for a nice ride and did not notice the slight loss a mid rpm, but could really feel the change in power all the way till redline.

Do a search on Stebro and you will NOT be using them for anything..... I bought the Fabspeed headers last year and had them ceramic coated. No problems at all so far.... I wouldn't buy a dog dish from Stebro....

LOL...I was trying to be too harsh and tell him what I really thought about Stebro, but I don't think I could have said it any better myself.

Thanks, guys. I was leaning towards the Fabspeed headers because of all of the positive FChat feedback.

    Jeremy:
Do you have these units in stock? Also, is your inside-out coating good enough that these headers won't destroy my alternator and compressor (since I'll lose the shields)? What would be the turn around time with the coating request? I ask because I'm leaving town this Sunday and won't return until April 13th. If the order will be fulfilled and delivered within a matter of a few days, I'll wait until I return to place the order (want to make sure I'm around to accept the delivery). If the order takes at least a week or more to fulfill, then I'll order tomorrow and expect a delivery sometime after I return.

I'm at Zipcode 29206. Let me know the turn around time, including the inside-out coating so that I can judge when to place this order.

Also, do you sell any exhaust parts for 2006+ Maserati Quattroporte? Headers in particular?

    285ferrari:
Do you have any heat shielding in place, or has the ceramic coating provided by Fabspeed sufficed thus far? If without shielding, for how many miles now have you run the Fabspeeds?

    Thanks!

    Nick

I have the headers ceramic coated as well as shields in place. My mechanic made up a few customs shields in places that he thought may benefit. Certainly can't hurt to take the extra step and install shielding in certain places around the engine components...

Great! I didn't know you now have heat shields. Is that $100 for both sides as in $50 each? I'll call you tomorrow to place my order. I'll need the ceramic coating as well, and since this is a week-long process, everything will work out great considering I'm out of town next week.

So I'm looking at 3,495.00 + shipping? How much for shipping to 29206?

    285ferrari:
Did you by chance install the headers yourself, or did your mechanic? Just wondering if the install requires engine removal. If so, I might as well perform an engine-out service even though I'm not due for another 5,000 miles.

The exhaust manifolds can be swapped as a DIY. Best to have a lift, and remove the remote oil tank. There are threads here on the procedure, you will need a couple specialized tools, like the giant wrench for the nut on the oil lines, and a special 13mm Snap On wrench that makes removing the copper manifold nuts much easier. You need new gaskets and new copper nuts too. Have a couple helpers too.

    Nick,

I just completed the heat shields for the 355 and 360 a couple days ago. We have them in stock and ready to ship at $100 for both sides.

$3,495 is the total for everything. I will throw in free shipping for you. Just give me a call tomorrow to place the order.

Engine does not need to be removed to install the headers. We have installed many here with the engine in. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info! I'll get new nuts and gaskets from Daniel @ Ricambi.

    Nick,
If you remove the remote oil tank (which makes removing the right side much easier) you will need to perform an oil change, so get the oil change kit from Daniel at Ricambi at the same time. And DEFINITELY order the heat sheilds.

Plan on this being an "all day" job. I was blessed to have a buddy with a lift and had done this previously, so between three of us (me mostly a helper) it took about 8 hours to complete.

    Will do. Thanks.

I have a friend here with a 5 bay shop. One of his bays is a 4-post lift. I'd think this should make for even easier access (all four wheels still planted on the lift). What do you think?

    Thanks again,

    Nick

I wouldn't do it on a 4-post lift. Your gonna need to take off the rear tires and inner fenderwells to gain access to the headers.
