Capristo has had some issues with welds braking at the mount due to vibration. This has caused some systems to have a rattle. To fix this problem the have developed a new mount with rubber isolator pads to dampen the vibrations, here are a few pictures of it. I have been told that all of the new exhaust systems that I receive will have the new mount. Just though some people would like to know. If you have any questions let me know.

I purchased the Capristo exhaust system and have had a lot of problems with welds cracking - after three trips to my welder (three de-installs/re-installs), I gave up and re-installed original tips. This is a poorly designed product - beware!

Hmmm....This is the first I've heard of this. My last two 360's had the Capristo level 3 and no problems. You mention the tips? Where exactly did you have cracks?

There is a small square cross brace or bracket between the two pipes as it makes the turn towards the two tips. You cannot really see it when it is on the car. The square bracket is only welded on one side and basically supports the two pipes keeping them equa-distant from each other so they are not free floating. The weld cracks where it meets the pipe. The new brackets have been doubled up and have larger welds. Mine cracked and it was an easy fix. Accessed it from the engine compartment on top and pulled the tips out from the back. Fixed the weld and slipped it back through and bolted it back up. Not a big deal.

Does this problem affect any particular model e.g 355, 360 or is it an issue for all Capristo's?

According to someone I spoke with who knows Capristo personally, the little bracket that separates the pipes has also been beefed up and welded in one more spot to prevent failures. This, along with the new mount, should take care of these issues hopefully. I just ordered one, so mine should have the upgraded hardware.

I'm going with level 3. I want to wake up the neighborhood when I go for a midnight drive! ;-)

I'm going to take some video clips once I get it installed and find server space to post them.

I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing the vids just the same, but I haven't heard any clips of either of the quieter version yet, thus the (mild) disappointment. Please do some launch clips, and not just revving, or drive bys, k? Seen a bunch of those already ;)

I got some capristo vids. email me if you would like them. I just got some new exhaust in. I have 4 level 3 systems with the new mount. I have already sold all my level 2's. As far as the cutomers with the older systems with the old mount: If you haven't had a problem with the welds cracking then dont worry about it. If have a problem, the place you got your system from should be able to help you get the style mount. And Capristo is not a crapy exhaust. They simply noticed they had a problem and took car of it. This shouldn'd be an excuse to go junk you Capristo in favor of another type of exhaust.
