Try the parts sticky above--some good info there and cross ref. # for different brands...

I agree with Tommy about Baldwin's.

Use Baldwin, UFI or Fram. These brands have standpipes and have a higher pressure allowance to keep the filter from collapsing.

I've heard big NOs on Frams for the reasons Matt pointed out. I'm with doc, I use Baldwins. Picked them up at a local Trucking Parts Warehouse. It was funny to se the look on the guys face when he asked me what I was using the filters on. "A....Ferrari???"

Frams seem to have a reputaion of failing under high pressure. If you have a high pressure oil pump you may not want to take the chance. I use Wix which have the reputation of being one of the best. Since I change mine every 3 months regardless of miles, I've not had any problems with whatever I use. I did like the grippy thing on the Frams, but with 20W50 that I use I was afraid of the pressure when cold.

I use to order mine from a online trucking company website and I called them once. They too asked what it was for and I said a Ferrari and the guy laughed. While we were chatting, he looked up the application for the B253 filter and it is used for superheavy duty Ford trucks and cotton bailers.

I've seen the innards of many filters and, in my opinion, Baldwin is absolutely the best on the market.
A very close second is Wix, although I'm not sure if they have an exact replcement for the B-253. If they did, I would not hesistate to use a Wix on any Ferrari.

The Baldwin B-253 is all I have ever used in my 308. It works great and with never a problem. Since they don't stock them, I just order them, a case at a time, from the local trucking company.
