Hello! I have my 328 for almost 2 years now and i am very happy. But i have and my 328 friends i sweden, problem whith the gearbox when it´s cold. It´s difficult to change to second gear. it gets better when it´s warm. I tried the shell oil that the ferrari manual say. And now i tried the Castrol XJ. Do you have any oil that´s works? I know that this problem is on all 328 but i hope it gets better whith better oil. I found on internet that you should drill a hole inside the gearbox to get more oil to second gear. But in that case you must take the hole gearbox apart. Happy driving Stefan
Hi Stefan, There have been many long discussions (often arguments..) about gear oil on here in the past. I don't want to re-open the debate but I suggest you could try: 75W90NS http://www.turbobits.co.uk/acatalog/redline_synthetic_gear_transmission_differential_axle_oil_fluid.html A few of the 348 guys have used this to good effect. If you get a bit of 'chatter' from the limited slip diff mix in a little 75W90.
Give this thread a read: What gearbox oil are you using in your 308/328? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6978 I personally just switched to Redline 75W90 NS and noticed an improvement in shifting all around.
More firsthand positive experience with the Redline 75W90NS. Just put it in my 308. I hope you can get this stuff over there, because it's THE stuff to use!
Stefan, If you can't obtain Redline, try Mobil 1 75w-90. I use it in my 328 and it works fine. Using it eliminated chatter from the limited slip differential that I was getting using Shell. The Mobil 1 also enables the shift to second more easily. Some on this board have said the Mobil 1 deteriorates over time; it may. I have only about 2000 miles on the oil and it's OK so far. Cheers, Mark
