    I just watched Vanilla Sky for the 1st time last night & did a double take on the car Tom Cruise was driving in the opening dream sequence. Was that a real 250 GTO in black or Memorex? Does a black 250 GTO exist? If so, who owns it & where does it live?

    No, a total fake... most likely a Datsun.

    Not black, but deep darkblue, and very good looking are two GTOs: 3589GT (in Switserland) and 4219GT (in the UK).

    Went down to visit my folks in Fla., couple of years ago, found a car museum in Sarasota (can't remember the name) that had the actual 250GTO replica from Vanilla Sky.
    Documented with photo's from the film shoot, didn't give any car spec's about the donor car...hood was latched with leather straps as per originals. Was able to sit behind the wheel as the drivers door was unlocked, museum police never knew.
    Didn't make me feel special after sitting where Cruise had sat for the movie but would sure like some of his money :)
