I'm doing a flywheel rebuild and clutch replacement on my 348. I've removed the 9 fasteners that retain the clutch. It still doesn't want to pull free from the flywheel. Is there something else that has to be done before the clutch assembly can be removed?

Also, the clutch has Borg & Beck cast into the back. Is this the OEM manufacturer, or is this an aftermarket clutch?

    Thanks,
    James

Don't be afraid to use a screw driver(flat) to pry up in the pressure plate. More then likely your just a bit stuck on the dowel pins on the flywheel. Pry evenly from side to side and she should just pop off.

AP makes a lot of high end clutches for racing (they also make excellent brakes) so I wouldn’t doubt if they had a partnership with Ferrari. I.E. make clutches for the F1 car and by doing so secure the rights to provide OEM clutches.

As said above don't be afraid to get a little Medieval on your clutch in order to get it off. You're replacing it and I'm assuming resurfacing the flywheel so you're not going to hurt anything that already is going to be replaced or fixed.

I remember that it took a little prying to get mine apart. When I had mine out I sourced parts from AP Racing, and not from Ferrari. I had the dual plate ap racing clutch pack.

Also, there were indexing marks on mine. I guess they are balanced. Keep that in mind.

In the end all I had to do was get the clutch plates resurfaced. The cost was about half of what a new clutch was, I didn't need the pressure plate.

    What year is you 348?

Thanks guys, I'll pry away with a clear conscience.

Vincent: The car is a '92.... February '92 build date. I think it's a single disk clutch.

When I got this car I wondered why it wasn't a bit lighter. Now after removing the stock exhaust and the clutch/flywheel assembly I'm starting to understand. This stuff is heavy!

Is there a lighter clutch/flywheel available?
